My mousewheel doesnt work,help me out.

i have been facing a problem from a long time.I bought a new intex optical mouse and it worked perfectly for 2 months and after that my mousewheel started behaving in funny manner.when i scroll the mousewheel it goes upward and downwards.Though mousewheel click button works perfectly.I have a habit to use mousewheel for scrolling up and down and its really irritating for me that i am not able to use it.This thing happened with my compaq mouse too but got solved automatically.

The spindle on the wheel may have been broken. Try finding another similar wheel with a good spindle and install it in the place of the broken one. If it doesn't work, like they said, buy a new one. Mouse are quite cheap nowadays.

ok i think i will buy a new mouse because its hard to get exactly same spindle.

Warranty is already over dear.otherwise i would have replaced it.I guess i will have to buy a new one just for mouse wheel problem.:(

the mouse wheel is easily broken by added pressure on it
it was meant to roll up and down and not dip
the mechanism holding it might be broken
