Nicotene withdrawal symptoms... What are yours?

I'm writing this because unfortunately I smoke way too much. And have been trying to quit or at least cut down and I haven't had very much luck with it lately. Besides head aches (the obvious symptom), I get very anxious when I don't have a chance to smoke. Or, when it's so busy at work and I don't have time or extra coverage to have a smoke break, it's almost like I'm 2 seconds away from having a panic attack (ok, maybe not THAT bad, but it's pretty bad).
For ex-smokers or current smokers, what kind of symptoms do you normally have when you try to quit smoking or when you DID quit smoking? If you are also anxious, how do we get away from using nicotene as a 'stress management' technique? Any tips?

I am not a smoker, but I feel for all of you. What a difficult bundle of pain and misery to deal with. I hope you all can find someway to manage and get through it.
Have a good day.

For me it gets physical when I try to quit, which makes it even harder to do so.
Unless I use the patch when I quit, I'm in a lot of pain.
The problem is that I've had inflammation in my lungs in the past, a condition called pleurisy, I was hospitalized for almost a week with it when I had my first ever flare up. Quitting smoking at that time was fine as I was already in so much pain.
So now, if I try to quit, the same thing happens, my lungs flare up and I'm in agony for days.
I don't know how it works on the patch, but the last time I had quit with it, I was in no pain at all.
I do get irritable as well, people don't want to know me when I try to quit.
