Did You Ever Cheat Playing Games With Your Family?

I have said before on here that my brother used to be a little sh*t when he was about 13 years old. A little tearaway he was!
I am one of those people that cannot cheat at anything. From draughts to snakes and ladders, Monopoly..you name it, I have to be honest and that comes with my Aries Sun, Moon and Ascendant. I can't help it, I have to be fair. My brother, on the other hand, is a Gemini but has loads of Scorpio in his Birth Chart but, of course, I didn't know this at the time.
If we were in the middle of a game of draughts (as an example) I'd go to the loo, come back and all my..er, draughts had been moved about so that when I sat down Danny my brother would say, "My go!" and he'd go..click, click, click, click all over the board, dispensing with my draughts, therefore winning the game!
He never played any type of game in a fair manner which was incredibly frustrating from my point of view.
No wonder I read a lot!!

I can understand people who do cheat (well, sort of) but I just couldn't do it..not in my nature. So I suppose my brother reckoned I was an easy target.
It was funny when the whole family played Monopoly during our blackouts in the 70s though because my Dad wouldn't tolerate my brother's cheating at all so he'd go off in a huff!

Actually I was just joking. I am not one to cheat either. Perhaps that is why I have never been able to get anywhere in life LOL

I am not a good cheater but I have done many cheating tricks when playing with family members.. even when I used to play with friends I use to cheat but they were better then me... The usual game where I use to cheat was in board games.. like carom, chess and ludo ..I don't think there is any thing wrong in it but it will be bad if you make it a habbit and use such things in other places..

That is right Janey.. I mean cheating for fun and not for harming others..
Well you put it right "innocent cheating"

Cheating at work you mean? I think I know what you're getting at. What you are refering to is a kind of innocent cheating, am I right?

Oh yes, I think I must have done as a kid! We would play various board games, and snakes and ladders and I would see myself losing and accidently on purpose, turn the dice over when my sister wasn't looking! She was worse though! She would often move her counter to a more favourable square as I was looking on, after I had picked the dice up for my go! And draughts always found both of watching to see where each others eyes were and if they were diverted we would nudge the draught into a more favourable position. It would always end up in a screaming match and my mother would often come and take the game away.. If my Dad was home though, we were the epitome of good behaviour and sportsmanship! _Derek

I love it! Yes, my Dad was like that. As soon as he appeared we took on an angelic look, not that we were scared of him or anything.
In fact, yesterday, he was so worried about Mum (she worked late, long story) he cleaned up for her and, generally did the housework. Believe me, this is extremely rare. He does the basics but not on this scale. As he knew she'd be in really late he sprung into action.
Awww!
Mum said he nearly set fire to the kitchen when he used the hob though (it's not a gas one which is what he prefers) lol.

Cary has to win, and he will cheat if we let him get away with it.

I was never a game cheater. it just takes away from the fun of the game when you cheat. Most of my sibling fights began when someone cheaated while playing a game. Nothing good ever comes from cheating a family member while you are playing a game.

I agree with you totally. Even in Trivial Pursuit my brother would read all the cards first before playing!

Does Zodiac Sign have anything to do with cheating in games? Haha. I'm a Gemini too, and my big sister always gets irritated whenever we play games (she gets irritated yet she still plays games with me. lol). I never really meant my cheating. It's just for fun you know, I just want to get lighten things up. It's not really a competition.

Perhaps you thought I was being totally serious and a bit stressed about it. I still talk to my brother you know and yes, it does have everything to do with Astrology, surely everyone knows that?

Yes I do cheat. This is because its not always about winning when you play with family more often its about fun and when some one looses too badly we get to make fun and memories out of those moments by watching the expressions and reactions of that member to the situation.

Dear friend,
No cheating in any plays, I enjoy winning that too in the right way. Moreover I do not like others cheating me too. I feel the real spirit of game come when both sides are not cheating and also the justifiable and dignified winner is one who wins without any cheating.

That's exactly what I was thinking! Surely a person feels better if he or she has won against another person who hasn't resorted to cheating either. It's purer that way isn't it my friend?

I didn't because I hate playing with cheaters. If you play by the rules everyone has a fair chance and the whole point is to win of course! However, after we were grown I found out my friend cheated at cards when we were little. She had come to live with her aunt who was my babysitter - after school care. My friend had been in a wreck and was bedfast. I didn't know she marked the Old Maid cards! I felt glad she won all the time because of the bad stuff she'd gone through! I never dreamed she was cheating all the time! lol! (yeah, I just trust people!)

I am too trusting as well my friend. Fancy your friend cheating all that time and you didn't know. I must admit, I'd be like you..totally unaware!

I played card games with my relatives and never cheated. I value honesty most as it has been taught to us since birth. When I lost a game, i just say to my self better luck on the next round.
Cheating on any form of games is also cheating to yourself. We can't appreciate the sweetness of winning if we knew that we didn't play fairly.

I agree! The confusing part was that me and my brother were brought up in exactly the same way..it's not as though I was treated differently to him. I get along well with him although - oddly he's an introvert now!

My point would be what would the point be, a game is suppose to be fun and challenging and every one can't win. So cheating would not be one that I would favor, in fact if I saw or noticed a member cheating I would call it quits.

I only cheat when I'm playing those games with my fiance. But he often caught me doing that and he will get so frustrated and he is actually so close on winning the games. When he asked me why I'd do that, I will just tell him that I'm really upset that I can't seem to win any games at all so maybe cheating would help me to win at least for once you know. I only manage to do the cheating about 3 times but different days with different games. Then I never able to do it again after that, he also told all of his friends to be careful when playing those games with me because I would cheat

I can never say I have cheated in playing any games with my family at all. I never even thought about doing so. And we've played a lot of games.. Monopoly, Sorry, The game of Life, Checkers, Dominoes, Spades, Deuces Wild, I Declare War... the list goes on. Because I found it to be unnecessary... I wasn't really losing anything... (though I rarely lost)... lol

You are so lucky winning without cheating! I guess that's why some people do it..they can't win WITHOUT having to cheat in order to get there. My parents never tolerated cheating in games (in a friendly way, they weren't strict or anything) but whenever Danny played a game with me only..he'd cheat because he knew he'd got away with it!!

I do not cheat with my family, but there is one group of friends, where every games degenerates into everyone trying to make one person lose(it is a different person, usually one of the husbands, every time). If it is a game like monopoly, we will pass cash under the table, call a number of a dice something other than it is if it rolls on the floor, to help or hinder. I am not proud of the fact, but it does keep the game exciting. Part of the fun is to find the cheats.

I see! Actually, that doesn't sound so bad because everyone knows there is cheating going on. In the case of my brother, most of the time he was quite subtle about it and before I realised what was happening, it was too late!
