Are coupons outdated?

I was just looking at some coupons and started adding up the savings. I was amazed at the amount all these little clippings added up to. Save 10% here, Two dollars off there, buy one get one free....They come in the mail, they show up magazine ads, we can find them online, but do we use them? I can't remember the last time I used a coupon. I know my folks did way back when, but that was a long time ago (whell, ok maybe a really long time ago. How do you keep track of all those coupons for each product anyway? I mean, do you tape them to item in basket? File through them and deal them out as the item is checked at the register? There must be something to be said for coupons, my mail box is inundated with them at least twice a month.

My husband and I started doing our shopping at Giant Eagle. We get specials, use coupons there and buy some generic products. We have so far saved $154.38 this year. I love coupons. We go to coupons.com and print off coupons and use coupons we get in the mail. I have a coupon organizer and we save expired coupons to send to military bases overseas because coupons are good overseas on military bases for a year after expiration date. I have a brother serving in Korea and these can help him or his friends.

I do use them. I will say that I am courteous when I do use them. I usually go to Walmart either very early in the morning (and I mean early), or I go very late at night. I have an envelope with the coupons I plan on using and I but them in another empty envelope as I find them on the shelf. I really don't use too many coupons, as I usually purchase generic anyways...however, I do buy name brand toilet paper and laundry detergent and other misc. stuff, so I always have a coupon for those things. Sometimes it takes a lot of work, but you would be amazed at the amount of money you save over the course of a year.

My Mom used to be a coupon queen. She could go in the store, buy $200 worth of stuff and pay $20 for it. It was amazing! The best time was when she went to the store, had two carts filled with name brand stuff, the bill was over $300 and when they finished with all those coupons they OWED her over $5 LOL Ppl were stunned, the cashier was ticked off and the store couldn't believe it. She would get us kids to help her clip them, she'd get the store sales papers and match up the coupons with what was on sale that she could use and off she'd go. We ended up with great things to eat for little of nothing. Most ppl don't bother with coupons anymore and stores have mostly quit doing double and triple coupon days (where they double or triple the amount of the coupon) so many ppl have stopped using them. I miss doing them with my mom though. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I am an avid coupon user. I wont go to the store without my coupons. I print them offline and I also get the Sunday paper just for the coupon inserts. I am guilty of holding up the line at the checkout. Ive even had folks get angry with me, but Im not real concerned because its my money that Im saving. I have saved quite a bit of money using coupons. I havent come close to what you say your mom had saved...that would be awesome if I did tho.

We lived in Texas at the time and often the stores would have double or triple coupon day...where say you had a coupon for 50 cents off...on a triple coupon day the coupon would then be worth $1.50...if the item was on sale for a dollar then you would get 50 cents back. These days you don't see that much and most cashiers kind of get an attitude if you try to use more than one or two...however, you are right, it is your money that you're saving so why not save more. Although I don't use coupons, I do check prices, sizes and go with store brands rather than name brands where I can. Every little bit helps. I have always been a coupon clipper. I do use my coupons quite often. The only sad part of clipping coupons is the expiration date. it seems when I really need to use the coupon to buy something, the expiration date has arrived.

As per the number of surveys I take online coupons seems to be the craze of today and marketing researchers are trying to determine if they should up them more to catch more attention. I will occasionally clip them, ha but ask me why I will shop and never have them with me. Occasionally I am lucky for such big items and say something like a $20 off ticket price with a coupon, these I will definitely have at time of purchase.

Since my brother and his gf moved out of the house we were sharing, I have been clipping coupons like crazy as my fiance was out of a job twice in the past year and we just had a baby! I order coupons from websites, clip coupons from the paper, and borrow unused coupons from friends. I can usually save around $10-20 per weekly grocery trip which comes to $80-100. That adds up to us being able to pay our rent! I keep the coupons in envelopes labelled "household, groceries, baby, etc" and check them weekly to see which are expiring.

I do use them, it's one of the way to save money. Maybe it will take longer time to take out the coupons before paying but that few dollars cut off can be use to purchase something else. I usually keep my coupons in my wallet. There are not much to begin with (we don't being offer much coupons here) That way I won't forget them and can bring them out before paying.

I love using coupons and don't believe they are outdated especially with the economy the way it is. Wwhat I do is make a list of thing I'm buying and if I have a coupon for it I put what the amount is for with a circled "c". Then I know I have a coupon and the amount off for it. I just moved to Puerto Rico and yesterday I presented the cashier with a coupon off yogurt that I was buying. It was from the internet but she claims that "walmart" does not accept coupons from the internet. Meanwhile when living in New Mexico for the past 3 years they would take them. So I just fired off a letter to the Corporate office of Walmart to find out why Puerto Rico's walmart won't accept the coupons. You can save so much money on product when using them, especially in PR where food is quite expensive.

I do not know why a poor country like ours is not into coupons. Yes, this is not something that we have. We do not have coupons mailed to us and our companies here do not give out coupons the way you have them in your country. Why can't we have them here? I just wonder.
