My son finally got his learner's permit for driver license. Becouse of his ADHD he had to ad a medical advice from his dr in order to get it. I am not surprised and it was needed. I am wondering, how this is in other countries. Do your kids who suffering from ADHD need to ad medical advice for getting a driver licenese?

Dear friend, That is something new for me, In India where I live if you drive well one could get a licence. A doctor's certificate is upon the money how one could buy it. Even licence could be brought here with money.

Given the problems a person with ADHD, it is not wise to "buy" to a driver's license because it can cause great concern at a possible car accident. Something to consider before acquiring a license in that way.

Wow...I never knew that having ADHD to be an issue for getting a driver's license! I suppose it's like when the doctors thought I had a stroke, and state law in Pennsylvania required my name and prognosis forwarded to the state licensing board. Of course I had to wonder about the doctors sending my information to the wrong state--I was a lifelong New Jersey resident (still am) but I guess someone forgot to check where my current credentials were at!

Since last year, theThis is new guidelines that apply to people with ADHD in Sweden. It has been questioned. But given that the problems of attention disturbance and concentration difficulties that ADHD means, it is perhaps not surprising that these guidelines exist. My son got out a three-hour test before his doctor wrote a medical certificate. Once a year, he must now submit a new medical certificate that show he has continuous control.

I've no idea what the UK's stance is on ADHD in particular in Learner drivers, but any medical condition that would have the possibility to interfere with a driver's safe operation of a vehicle would be under medical scrutiny, especially something like Epilepsy, for example.Would the condition have an effect on your Son's ability to drive? Does He need medication to control it that he has to take on a regular basis?

Yes, my son has daily medication. Every three months, he meets a nurse for the control and every six months he will meet with his doctor who prescribes it. There is strict control. He got his papers but had to annually submit a new medical certificate proving that the control is continuous, once a year.

ADHD affects people in all countries and of all cultures. However the level of awareness, knowledge and treatment varies significantly between cultures. I am from India. And Yes to get a Driver License, one need to be get examined by a government appointed doctor if he has ADHD. Only after his approval, he can able to get a DL.
