Pres. Aquino think tanks are planning to have junior and senior high in secondary education system because they reasoned out that all other countries have this. Well, if that's good for them, they think it will be good for us,too. Whew, what kind of government managers are they? Do they really know what's happening in every remote island high school in the country? How about you, are you in favor of this big plans of Aquino's men?

i hope junior high pushes through. i think that filipino children could use more years of education. it would help them to be more well-rounded. this is a very good plan, although it would also mean two more years of added expenses, but i think the benefits would definitely outweigh it. but also, they need to improve the quality of education, not only the number of years of eduction.

"they need to improve the quality of education, not only the number of years of education" I strongly agree with this. ..but can't the quality of education be improved without having to spend a lot more years?

i guess so. but the education system has been that way since forever. i don't know if kunior high was ever done here in the philippines, but in countries that have it, it seems to serve them good. so why not try it.

If it is for the betterment of our education system then i'm all for it. The only concern i have is that the extra years our students will have to spend in school would not only mean additional burden to the students but to the parents as well. I have no problems with adding years to the current school years as long as they upgrade the quality of our education system. All those extra years will just go to waste if our students will not learn anything or little from it.

Hi, Edna. The K12 program might be able to help improve the educational system in our country by allowing for specialization in science and technology, music and arts, agriculture and fisheries, sports, business and entrepreneurship. DepEd Secretary Luistro says that these will prepare the graduates to enter the work force even without a college degree. I think such a view is full of optimism but then reality bites. Even a college degree does not guarantee graduates with a job how then can adding 2 more years guarantee that high school graduates will fare better in trying to get a job? I think the current curriculum should be evaluated, the teachers paid more decent salaries and the public schools equipped with better furniture and equipment in order to truly improve the education system.

High school education is free in public schools. Currently, we have four years of high school, which is equivalent only to grade 10 in other countries. Should the department of education implement a senior high school, the students would have more years of free education. They would learn more subjects.

This is going to be a bit controversial if plans proceed. The plan is to extend well here in the US it is getting a bit difficult to maintain the students with the current 4 year plan of high school. Some drop out and never complete. So I hardly see that extending it will encourage furthering. Most of our students here graduate when they are 18 years old from high school, somehow I do not see a 20 year old appreciating still being in High School. The idea is to teach more subjects, perhaps making school hours longer as opposed to extending the length of years may be a better fit. It will certainly spark some controversy for sure.

yeah, i agree. but they should build school buildings first before pursuing these plans. they should make sure that everything is okay and well before making additional changes.
