I really don't like it when the anime changes the manga story. The anime is suppose to follow the manga story. Also the manga story is usually better. An example is Full Metal Alchemist. They had to do a second Full Metal Alchemist because the first one didn't go by the manga story and the first one was really bad.

yeah. same here. i don't like it when anime doesn't follow the flow in manga. because most of the times, the good parts in manga are not being showed in anime. didn't it became a little confusing on Full Metal Alchemist when they did that?

I actually like when they change the story and if it's done right you can read manga and watch anime and it won't be boring.

if it's done right, no problem. but usually, you can't really stop comparing the two.

I don't really mind if the changes are small but it's really bothering if the story deviates from the source entirely. A good example would be the Claymore anime. I really loved that anime up until the final few episodes. I understand that they had to end it somehow since the manga was still going but the way they ended the series was a turn-off. It made the possibility for a sequel kind of impossible.

usually, anime endings are turn-offs. especially when you compare it to manga. because sometimes, anime endings seem to be unsatisfactorily done. not exciting.

Yes, I really don't like it when they change too much from the manga (especialy if the manga is so good). When they turn it to anime, so many good parts have been cut. Just like when books are turned into movies..

hmm.... actually i kinda like anime over manga, simply because i can clearly see the moves and color with anime rather than with manga. But in anime there are fillers that are really annoying so I'd prefer the manga to stick to the story line. some times... i won't care... both works just fine for me.

that's the good thing about anime. you have the voice, moves, etc. that's why i watch anime first, to be able to imagine better the voice od manga characters.

ah u got it the other way around most anime is based on manga. mangaka draws them if it's good enough than it become an anime. Although some anime were based on games and than turn to a anime or manga.

It sucks at times to see anime that did not follow the flow of the manga. I mean the manga sometimes tells the great story then the anime kinda reverts it to another one. One particular manga that I think was distorted by the anime version is Claymore. the anime lasted for 25 episodes(I guess) and the ending clearly did major changes..

What about the manga that changes the original anime story line? Or the manga that changes the original light novels? There can be a lot of alterations done when adapting a story to a new format. You have to remember each format has it's own strengths and weaknesses. And also some of the anime you are watching came before the manga, and it's not always manga then anime. It really doesn't bother me honestly. Typically creators are involved with the process of adaptations, so really if they are happy, who are we to complain?

it's okay as long as the plot is still the same for both animes and mangas. Well that's what I think though...

Well, it's sometimes bothersome. But if its just a small fragment in the manga that was changed, then that won't be a big deal. On the other hand, there are some anime that will only add some scenes with the characters for the purpose of making the characters nicely play their role. That would give more colorful to the story, right? However, if they change the story, why won't they change the titles, so as not to be compared to the manga?

Sometimes, yes, sometimes no. Depending on how much the plot and the characters were changed, I guess. Anime often changes the plot from the manga version to draw more interests from fans or having the plot to be changed so that more fans can appreciate the story.

Maybe anime productions follow certain rules and standards that's why some didn't follow the manga's storyline. But personally, I don't mind small changes. Big changes result to diversion. In this case, I go with the manga's storyline. Comparison can't be prevented as well as disappointment.
