One thing I always like to see on Haloween is the jack-o-lanterns. We always get at least one big pumpkin and carve a jack-o-lantern. I like the traditional looking jack-o-lantern but I have noticed that some really make are real artistic. Have you ever seen any really artistic jack-o-lanterns? We carve our own, we always go with the traditional but my children and hubby are artistic and could probably do one like that too. Do you always have a jack-o-lantern? If so, do you go for the traditional or the artistic type?

Haloween is my favorite day of the year! I also do not see anything wrong with a traditional Jack-o-Lantern. Given the fact the tradition of the Jack-o-Lantern, does not say it is suppose to be fancy or scary. The Original Jack-o-Lanterns were meant only to keep away Evil Spirits on Haloween night, when it was dark. I'm certain, the look of the face of the jack-o-lantern had nothing to do with it.

No, I suppose it makes no difference what is carved into the pumpkin as long as gives light.

Pumpkin - Home Carved Is Always Fun!
Halloween is truly my most favorite time of the year. I loved how the kids and I always try to be creative and well our buck tooth pumpkins were not very fashionable but it sure was funny with the end result as we truly tried our best.

Yes, I like those bucked tooth pumpkins me and my kids carved too, much more than the fancy artistic ones you see so much of today. My kids were happy with them no matter how lopsided they sometimes trned out.

my mother didn't like the bother of jack-o-lanterns, so we never did them, and I don't observe it now

Yes, some people don't bother, my mother was never crazy about bothering with making them either. Me and my sisters would carve them for the younger children at home. I have always made them for my children, they always helped of course. To me they are a traditional decoration for Haloween, I guess its the kid in me.

These days, I eat my pumpkins instead of carving them! When I was younger, we did traditional. They stay nice for so short a time, seems like a waste here. Even when I used to carve them, we still ate the seeds.
