I love the Hallmark movies, don't you? This is a really good one that my daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed. It takes place in the Great Depression and is about a family in California struggling to keep their orange groves afloat and hang onto their homes when the banks are threatening to foreclose on them.
Granted, Places in the Heart is a little more powerful for this sort of story but this film is a little warmer. It lacks the violence and jerks that Places had. It starts with a sheriff who is really a good guy...which is a break from the stereotype that is so often portrayed in the movies.
The story is about good people struggling to make ends meet and find their way in the world and good friends and neighbors who help each other. It's just a good old-fashioned feel-good movie that I can recommend for the whole family.
The movie has some familiar faces in it including Shirley Jones and Tom Bosley. It also has a thing or two to teach us about orange farming. Has anyone else seen this Hallmark gem?

As in the title of my discussion, the movie is called "Hidden Places" and is available at Netflix.
