Just last night I started receiving text messages from an unknown number, after few more texts, he told me he got my number from facebook! I was surprised as four months ago, I deleted my cell phone number on my profile and edited my privacy setting so that only my friends can see important details about me including my number.
So today I checked again my privacy setting and found out that it was set where in "friends of friends" can view my details! I immediately change my setting to "only friends" so that no unwanted or annoying people can view my profile details. What are your bad experiences with facebook?

oh that's so not cool. I don't have my number or email on facebook. if people want to find me then they can send me a facebook message. I am not really cool with putting all of my personal business online just for that reason. people calling or texting you and you have no idea who the heck they are.

I have the same encounter with you. Facebook has this sort of problem. I think facebook is still trying to leak some information for others to use for some reasons. These issues are serious and need to be resolved by Facebook administration or else facebook may suffer from all these users.

Actually that kind of experienced within Facebook is normal, since facebook is social networking and public domain - we must exert an extra careful for giving our details if you don't want to reveal it to others. You know some are so un-professional and abusing the openess of facebook. See you around...

I have no experience like that. So lucky. I don't want everyone can know all my details ( i might be bad in something, for example;)). So i don't often post my personal detail on any site.
But i think u can open your mind to get new friends if they found you and interested in you. There are lot of kind people over this world. Smile ^.*)

I am pro with Facebook security settings and even when I first started I was super cautious. My ex-girlfriend, however, refused to take my advice on the matter and insisted on posting private information on Facebook. She was sexually harassed via facebook by some creepy middle aged guy and we had a phone scammer call us asking for personal info.
I like the security settings that allow you to make posts visible to only certain friends. VERY handy with the in-laws and parents and what-not.

Hi,
Lucky you found out about this issue fast and be more cautious
not to disclosure your contact number to any websites.
I did receive an email from my friend about facebook disclosing the phone
number issue and I faster check my facebook profile. Lucky I never ]
insert my phone number there and I faster update all my profile.
It is pretty dangerous as nowadays there are lot of hackers which can done
lot of things with our personal information.

I'm not experiencing this kind of privacy attack at all because first, I don't put my phone number on Facebook, and second, I don't use my mobile to access my facebook account.
You should always keep an eye on your privacy setting and always make sure whatever you put on your account, it is only your friend who can see. Because I myself hate it when a friend of my friends who I don't even know start requesting a friendship and all with me just for the sake of having more and more and more friends on Facebook. Good luck and have a nice day!

Yes, I had bad experience with facebook a few years ago.
Once day, My facebook account received a message in inbox. She was my classmate but I very hate her. I never give my facebook e-mail address for her, I don't know she how to get that. Anyway, Since this times, I delete all about me informations in facebook and edited my privacy setting to "friend only".

Hi. marciacecilia13. That is so messed up! I don't blame you for changing your privacy settings to only friends. No other persons but them has the right to see your phone number. When you have friends of other friends, other friends that may not be your friend get to view your profile and any other data that you have left on your profile. I have not had any bad experiences with facebook so far. I do know that, my ex boyfriend was flirting with me on facebook. He was married to this girl and she is on facebook. So, I deleted him as my friend and that was the end of that story.

I don't know how to delete some personal details. I tried but it didn't work. I might just close my account and open another one.
