Best source for free eBooks (pdf - doc)

I am a student and books are very expensive to me. So I am searching for a good website that offers free eBooks? I am only searching for legit sites that do not break rules like steal books from the author.

I don't really know any sites to buy eBooks in general, but I know certain sites that sell niche eBooks. Some of them are free, but I think it's pretty hard to find them with the author's full consent really.
What kind of eBooks are you looking for specifically? Maybe I know a site which sells or offers those eBook for free :)

Project Gutenberg. Search for this site and will get plenty of free ebooks. It's legit and not breaking any rules to get the ebooks. When you get there you will know why it is free. So, enjoy yourself there.
