We have a baby in the house and she's already 1 year now. She can say dada but aside from that other words are gibberish. What could be the most effective way to teach a child how to speak?

My baby daughter is 15 months and all she says are noises like early talking skills. I talk to her to teach her language and one day she will say her first word. I recommend repetitive story books with pictures in. I think that saying a simple word again and again helps. Mum and dad are important words for your baby to learn. She might say momma soon. Good luck.

the best way to talk to your baby is talk to your baby clearly don't do baby talk..talk to your baby as if he/she is a mature person so your baby can talk clearly

Waiting for a baby to start talking is one exciting event for the parents. It's hard to tell on when the baby say his/her first word. In my case, i first heard her say "ma" when she is 3 months old but only that one time. I heard that straight "mama" again only on her fifth month but that's because we talk to her as if she is not a baby and she would hear everyone calls me mama too. Normally babies start to babble 3 to 5 words when they are about one year old. Do not worry if the baby in your house can only say dada. Just talk to her as if she is a grown up kid for not all babies developed or reached the same milestones at the same time.

The most simple and most effective way is to not speak to her with baby words like dada etc. She will associate the word dada with her father or daddy, but when it's time to teach her the proper word, she will have to relearn and re-associate. Just speak normally, she may not be able to say the words properly yet, but she will understand. Visual stimuli will also help, if you want to teach her how to say doll, do so while showing her a real doll. Lastly, don't be impatient, there's no magic number as to when a child will learn how to speak properly.
