If you won the lottery what would your plans be?

We all dream about being rich, but what if it happened? Many lottery winner go broke within a few years of winning. So lets just say you hit those lucky numbers and all of a sudden you have five million free and clear in your bank account. I have thought about it and here is what I would do. 1. Find financial manager to handle daily affairs and investments. 2. Invest half in trust fund for my Kids,Mother, and Sister with a monthly payout from the interest. 3. Invest the remainder and live off the interest 4. Buy 5 acres and build a cabin in a remote location. 5. Purchase nice diesel pusher motor home and travel while prospecting. 6. Become a Philanthropist and silently help needy folks I encounter on my journey. What would some of your plans be? Would you go hog wild and live like there is no tomorrow? or Would you meter your spending and leave something for your Kids and Grandkids as well?

That is an interesting question which often enters my mind. The most important thing is to keep a cool mind and not go visiting every shop you see. I fully agree with you. I would give my extended family a good part. Next buy a house and for the rest I would invest it and live off the interest.

Yes it would be too easy to just go on a shopping spree. Keeping a cool mind and wits about about would indeed be very important.

Well the first thing I would do, is CRY. Cry out loud and laugh and scream at the same time. :D - I would give some to each of my 3 sisters and parents. And some to my cousins, ucles, aunts and grandmother. - I would clear off my familys debt. - Donate a great share for charity. - Buy a house with a garden, so that we could grow fruits, vegetables and beautiful flowers. - Buy a proper car. - I would not start to be greedy and buy all sorts of things, that I wouldn't even need. - Fulfill my familys long-time wishes. - Put rest in savings account.

Sounds like you would live a normal life. Wouldn't it be great if this came true? It would be such a great feeling to be able to take care of the family and not to have any worries.

I have always wished to win the lottery too but I havent tried it. Maybe someday I will if I have the numbers in mind. Well anyway, first thing that I will do is to have a trust fund for my family. Then donate money to a chosen charity. I will invest on business and build an own business myself. Have a house built overlooking the sea with matching infinity pool. And of course have cars of my own. It is how you handle your money and be successful. You have to choose the right business and partners to have your money come doubling. Lottery is a once in a lifetime achievement. So you should be careful with the instant money you have. And try to think on plans on how to make it bigger.

Yes this is so true, it is a once in a lifetime achievement. From what I was reading 1 in 3 lottery winners go broke around 5 years after winning. Making plans to grow your winnings larger would be a definite plus. Most of us are used to that much money, so having 5 million dollars would seem like a lot, but others have had much more than that and wound up with nothing.

What you would do is so awesome! I would probably do a gillion mission trips and spend the majority on that. I love doing them because 1) you get to help people and 2) you get to travel, plus you get to make awesome friends with your teammates! I would also pay for my parents to go to Rome and England, because my mom has always wanted to go there and I really want her to experience it. I would spend the rest on an RV and a dog and live out of my RV travelling around America and Canada and Mexico and where ever I can drive to.

Thank you! Traveling and doing mission trips is fantastic way to spread such wealth. By far there is no cause more worthy than this. Wealth is often defined as cash or material value, The wealth you would bring to others could not be measured in ounces, pounds, dollars, or euros. This type of investment in others could span generations, and without a doubt into the hereafter as well for all those concerned. A most fair and worthy use of a once in a lifetime opportunity.

If I won five million dollars, I don't think I would go crazy. I think I would buy a 4 bedroom home with a pool on about 3acres, buy a mini van and a car, pay off my debts, give my parents an my 2 sisters a little something and the rest would probably be in the bank.

Sounds like the dream. You have the mini van, what about the white picket fence and family dog? Can't forget those!

If I won the lottery I would give some money to local charities, help out my family and close friends. For myself I would probably emigrate to Austria, buy a nice house and fast car and travel the world. I was reading this morning that someone in the UK won £113 million on the Euro Millions lottery last night. That's an insane amount of money to have!

Yes there those lucky few, With that much money I think there would be the problem of what to do with it all. The interest would keep adding up to more and more. What a problem to deal with, guess the old saying of be careful for what you wish for could apply. I would think of something I am sure.

I would pay off all my debt including my student loans. I would build a new house and purchase new cars for my husband, son and myself. I would invest 1/4 of money in high risk investment, put some in a trust fund for all 3 of my children, and invest the remander in a stable investment and live off the interest.

I will secure my family's future first. Do investments like, farm, housing, then put money in the bank and just get the interest for monthly expenses. Well of course if you have the blessing, we must share it to others. So of course, helping others is like thanking for the blessings. How I wish this could come true. Cheers.

5 millions... i wish that one day this will come true. if i get the money i will buy a house and car first, i guess these are the basic things that everyone fights for. later i will spend portion of the money for investment and hoping this able to provide a sustainable income for the rest of my life. i will bring my family for a vacation trip, a grand one. next, it should be the time for me and my girlfriend and we can go to any place we like, perhaps we can have our wedding in other country or for a honey moon trip. the last, i will also donate some of the money to the orphans and old folks house.

I am certain you would have enough to have a new car. I mean after all, the owner of a bar and resto would certainly have to drive something of descent quality and status. You shouldn't let money stop you, if your passion is to cook, then use that passion to find away.

If I would win a lottery and it would be a really big amount,I would give a portion of it to the charity as my thanksgiving to God, cause without Him, it would'nt happen. Some portion I'll give to my parents and relatives. A portion for my child education & future and for my family.. A portion to buy my dream house and car...Some for savings and investment and I would start a business of my own. It's very hard to earn money but it's easy to spend.. It's a rare opportunity to win, so, it's better to be wise and plan for it.

I believe it is almost everyones dream to win the lottery. The old saying of charity begins at home is where I would probably start. Sort out my parents and my in-laws, make sure they are set for life. Invest in my childrens' futures, education etc. Sort out my own financial position - be debt free. Buy my dream house and a car. Then I would help the friends closest to me, pay off all their outstanding debts Invest in property and put the rest away...

This is so true. I wouldn't feel right if I didn't care of my family and kids. The idea of setting up a metered trust fund would prevent my kids (18-22) from going hog wild wild and blowing it. Perhaps a part of the interest would be re-invested back in to the fund so it continued to grow ensuring my grandkids and maybe great grandkids a piece of the pie as well.

That's how I am. That's a good idea, but I'd make each account specific for my area of needs. Make one for bills, a couple for my daughter. I would make sure there was money for everything needed to last a long time. I would simpily invest it so I know I would have income even if that large lump sum ran out.

Sounds good. I have had the honor of knowing two different multi-millionaires. By looking at them, you would have never guessed or had a clue. One fellow old fellow, wore a floppy brimmed cowboy hat, faded jeans, well used cowboy boots and drove a rusty ford. He was the probably the richest man in the northern half of the state. The other gentleman, lived in nice neighborhood, two car garage, two kids, dog, white picket fence and worked as volunteer firefighter, and didn't look or act any different than His neighbor next door.

First of all, I will clear all my debts and pay off the mortage for the house. From the remaining amount, I will put 30% into a fix deposit. I will invest 10% into some solid and stable shares. Another 25% go into my saving accounts. Another 25%, I will give to my parents and family. The rest, I will spend on things I like.

I would purchase a house with an indoor pool so I could swim at home year round. And it would be a fabulous pool, designed to look like a lagoon, with a rock waterfall at one end. That would be my indulgence. The rest would be invested to live off the interest, and I would use my free time to start a charity that would help children whose parents can't afford tutors with their schoolwork if they are behind. My charity would pay for extra staff to be sent to schools for the children who need the extra help that teachers can't always provide because there are so many students in one class.

If I won the lottery, first of all I will buy a decent house for my family as much as we don't have a house of our own yet. Secondly, I will deposit my money in the bank, part of it, I will invest it in a small but gainful business. I will give small amount to my sisters and brother who are poor. I will share small amount to the church where I am attending to. I will be living the same way as when I still did not have the money. After all money is meant to be spent.

I am drooling into the idea that I won a lottery. First thing to do is buy a house and lot, that would feel me secured. Next, I will buy a car and go shopping as much as I want. Invest half of my winnings to a business and donate some to charity. Lastly, saved the remaining money to bank for future use.
