Some people may think that it is strange, but I talk to things like machines including my computer. One time, while I was a work driving a public bus, I was making a right hand turn, heading for the left hand turn lane during the evening rush hour. It felt like my bus was going to stall and I said, "Come on, baby, don't do this to me now!" The bus didn't stall, but I caused a person in the front of the bus to start laughing. He asked him if I do that often and I replied, "Occasionally when it's necessary. It kept running, didn't it?" I also believe that talking to your plants helps them. If nothing else, the plant gets the carbon monioxide that I breathe out.

Oh believe me I am ALWAYS talking to inanimate objects( and no tat'snot a joke at my hubby's expense) I have often urged my old car to go that little bit further and I think I have more conversations with my computer than I do with my husband!! they often include some rather bad language too I'm afraid!

cartoon of man yelling at a computer - A cartoon of a man, standing, yelling at a computer on a table.
Yeah, I cuss at my computer, too. I know that it doesn't help make the computer work any better. But it does, help me to vent. Believe me lately, my computer has been really slow so I have raised the household temperature a few degrees higher with my cussing. No, I'm not THAT bad. lol Venting helps to relieve some of the frustration that I am dealing with.

I do this all the time: I anthropomorphise objects: if they act badly, I'll tell them off and talk down to them; I might even give them a slap! It's irrational I know...but there it is. There is that famous scene in "Fawlty Towers" when the anti-hero Basil Fawlty beats his car in a rage for not starting: that would be me.

My friend often swears at printer or camera when they don't work. As for me, I scold at things which are in my way. But most often we talk to an 'immobile' cat, whose daily activity is just lying at somewhere without moving. :D

lol...i like your point on the plants...my mom also told me that, she say we need to be nice with them, treat them as your friend or family, then they will grow..with beauty..perhaps in the same time, carbon monoxide helps too..^.^ i didn't feel strange on this, sometimes i do it also. although i knew that these object are not living things but i talk to them when i'm alone. i talk to something that i like the most...when i bought something new such as my laptop or cell phone. it is like my friend that always be with me and that makes me treat them as living things. i think most of the people did it unconsciously...

I talk to plants sometimes and flowers. I guess I bought the story that they get something out of that or it helps them grow and be healthy. My grandmother told me about that and ever since I've talked to them. I don't think it's weird, I think many people do it that love their plants a lot. Also I talk to my computer sometimes. But mostly in anger, when it crashes. Afterwards I sort of laugh at myself but I do get frustrated and that's why I do it I guess. It's just an outlet because there's nothing else you can do when your computer crashes.

Yea.it happens to me.I sometimes speak to the systems I work on,my computer. Its like its a fellow and we are working together.Sometimes,I dont realize that until the job is done and someone asks me who are talking to.It happens, sometimes, when are not feeling good,we tend to speak to the air, sand, water and rocks.Dont know why this happens.May be because everything is made up of an electron, proton and neutron.

I think many times a lot of us do that, talking to things that aren't alive. I know there are times where I have to yell at a computer that I am using to work right. Of course, its not really listening but it does help me exercise some frustration and make me feel better. So it does work, in a fashion, if you really think about it. Of course, it is really not technically working but you got to take whatever victories you can get. The plant thing, many people talk and sing to their plants, and your explanation does make an amount of sense. I never thought about that but it is true. Then again, talking to your plants on some level does seem absurd, but when you look at it logically from your angle, it does make a lot of sense. Still, there are times where I have had conversations and even one sided shouting matches with inanimate objects.

I don't talk to inanimate objects, and don't think I know anybody who does, but I know quite a few people that talk to themselves all the time :) I would say, you're not crazy unless you answer your own questions too.
