why is Mylot so slow?

It's slow for me too, mind you it's been slow for a long long time now, I just don't have the patience, I always copy and paste my responses because it either times out or gives up the ghost, the site can be rather temperamental and you are right it's not your computer. It does put me off using the site and part of the reason I am not as active as I used to be is because of the slowness. Be interested to hear if this is a problem throughout and whether Mylot are aware or dealing with the issue.

Hi Autumn No Mylot isn't that slow for me 10 minutes is a long time to wait for me its been no more than 15 seconds and thats not very often I can't think of what they problems may be if you say your PC is running fine then it must be something else not sure it would be MYLOT unless a lot more people are having the same problem

I have to say I don't seem to have this problem and my paltop is not brilliant in fact it is running slow but mylot does not run slow on it I use firefox as my browser may be there are a lot of users connected at one time or somthing I am in the uk so differnet times on the site might have different responses. anyway hope you get on ok

Wow, that's really too slow... But I haven't been in a similar situation. To me, the myLot is normal.

I've had other people who had the problem, they ended up clearing cookies and doing all sorts of things before it was resolved. I don't have the problem myself. Welcome Back!

May be it's because of lot of users got connected to the site and the Mylot server is not taking the load very well. You have to deal with it, till Mylot people will do something about this.

You could always try a trace route to see if your request to mylot is taking a lot of jumps to get to don't know where you are located in the world and don't know how many servers you have to go through to get to mylot. Mine does it in about nine hops so it is a fairly quick jump. The biggest hangup comes from when I hit the rackspace.com server. So mylot loads fairly quickly for me sometimes their is a slight hang for posting things. But that could be the database taking a little bit of time or lag on that end other wise the site seems to load quite well and this is both on my Windows XP Service Pack 3 running Firefox and Ubuntu 10.04 running Firefox as Chrome seems to have trouble with my 64bit CPU.

Oh, I thought I was the only having problem with mylot. I have wireless internet. it is fairly good. I used to browse sites here and it was working well.. But when I'll browse mylot it is crawling. And sometimes even internet connection is good yet my discussion will be corrupted.

I do.And i keep believe my computer is at fault .Have you figure out why this site have this problem ?

It's slow for me, too, and I believe it is because of all the icons at the top. They are always changing and some are animated. It just slows down the whole page and makes it lag. My Internet is fast otherwise. I haven't posted here a lot lately because it just takes so long to make one post. You have to go through the next two pages after with the tags and such, too.

Well, mylot is truely slow but ten minutes are too many for any site! It doesn't take all that long to load!

today is my first day on mylot..and iam already feeling irritated..its not slow rather its damn slow...i dunt think anyone can waste so much of time for loading one page in twenty minutes..maybe the reason is that so many ppl are on this site or some technical problem..but the need of the hour is to ammend it by the sources.otherwise everyone will think second time for coming on this site..i agree with u buddy..me also facing the same problem

Hey,me too. I knew this website long time before, first time when i tried to access it, i found it's really slow and then gave up to regist, my pc is ok as well, so confused. Anyway i signd up.

It happened to me a few times :( I dont know why maybe my internet connection or the server of MyLot ..

I do have the problem and I figure it is because rather then pay more for a faster internet connection, Mylot is helping us. It is also because myLot is so popular and it might be that they have tried to save money by not hiring as much staff as they could. Also it could be that it expected all of us to just open one tab at a time. Of course, I never do and I am sure others do not do that either.

It is strange. Because Mylot works fine in my side. I don't have to wait for a long time and it's already loaded. This is why I can post here without problems. I hope the problems will be solved in your side. I love China

Mylot has been slow for me in the past but it usually fixes itself within a few minutes if not just an hour or so. I am not sure why it's running slow for you, I know your first responder suggested it was a browser problem, but could it be a graphic problem? Is this site the only site you load that is graphic intense?

I used to have that probem but a Mykotter adised me to change to Googe Chrome and U never had that probem again. It is so fast You could try it. Every success

yeah, mylot load slower than any other site on any Browser, I don't know the reason behind this, it might be due their design. Because mylot desgined different like text embedded and prevent copying etc features. and think due this, but it's not as much slow it takes same time to load always. :P have a nice day!! -Rasorr

Yes. You are right. Mylot is quite slow compared to other websites. I surf almost 10 hours a day and my computer is really very fast. Unfortunately, I experience this slow performance only on mylot. I do not know why?
