I lived in Rota, Spain (Andaluthia, southern Spain) for three years and it gave me an opportunity to travel in Europe and a bit in Africa. I've been to Portugal, Gibraltar, Morroco, Germany and Canada. Spain is a very interesting place. The pace is slow but the people were very nice. They love the little kids. If a child trips and falls everyone and I do mean everyone runs to help him up. You didn't have to worry about anyone hijacking your child over there. On the other hand you had to get use to everyone hugging and kissing your kid and giving them cookies and cady. Especially if they are blue eyed and blonde haired. Loved going to the Gypsy markets or flea markets. Got some really good deals on everything.
Morocco was interesting. Had a very nice muslim guide. The Muslim women in this part of the world was a very mixed social set. Some were covered head to toe in black others wore pants. a lot worked outside the home. if you ever go there never look a street vender in the eye when they try to sell you something. A lady in our group made that mistake and commented on how nice his wares looked and we couldn't shake him loose for quite awhile.
Germany was very beautiful and most Germans can speak enough English to communicate without to much dificulty. Loved shopping there.
Canada was interesting. We went to Toronto. It was great to see families doing things together. Got lost in the uderground mall they have. We even had a map. But it was fun and we found ourselves once we got back up into the open air.
Hope you get a chance to travel even if it is only in a neighboring country or state.

Wow you're so lucky for getting to travel so much. One of the places I'd like to go soon in Canada. I've heard it's very beautiful. Thanks for the comment.

I never thought I would travel as much as I do now. But that all changed when my husband joined the military. His first duty assignment was over seas to Spain. So that gave us the opportunity to see some of Europe. He's thinking of putting in for Japan for his next duty assignment or maybe Alaska. Who knows where we will end up. You can plant me just about anywhere since I like exploring new places.

I really want to go a vacation, but I have too much to do right now. And not enough money. Oh well maybe in the summer.
