Do you wish to live up to 100?

When I read today's paper I was shocked to see one page of it is filled with obituaries. What is more shocking is to see people dying young. At an age where I am now it frightens me to think that the end is near for me to move to my forwarding address of no return. For most people, death is an unwelcome event. With so many cravings to be satisfied, the business of living in spite of enormous suffering is never quite finished. People are more comfortable with the mirage of happiness than with the reality of death. If at all I have to think of death, it only has a slot in the eleventh hour. With all the glitters of this world and our attachment to worldly things, have it ever crossed your mind to want to live longer, maybe up to 100?

Hi lady, if it is only a light health issue and not life threatening, it is not too late to rectify it. Take your medications diligently and take good care of your diet. At an age where we are in our priority changes and we are more to taking good care of our own welfare rather than still chasing for material gains as we used to when we were still young and able. It is a dream but not impossible to be able to live long and healthy till the end.

Hi Zandi! I have recently become very aware that the average length of a life has become longer and we can now expect to live longer than our forefathers. But are we really living if we are taking pills to prolong our life or we are in homes for the aged because we are no longer capable of being on our own? My mother will be 92 next month and has recently moved into a care home. She is no longer able to live safely by herself and her mind is wandering to places which are unknown to those close to her. She may well have reached a big age but she is no longer the person that she was. I have no wish to live to a ripe old age if I have lost my faculties and am a burden to society. I certainly do not wish to reach 100 as a vegetable. As long as I am fit and able to care for myself then that is fine but after that I would prefer to move on to wherever we go after our life here.

What would happen to this world if we all have long life? It will definitely be polluted with centenarians. It will be pointless if people go on having botox or collegen jabs just to make them look young hoping to outlive their age but their internal organs are rotting away fast. My mom is 75 and she is already shrinking and fragile. Though her mental capacity is still strong and is still playing computer games every night. Living to a ripe old age is unrealistic and impracticable ambitions. It is better to die when we are still loved by our family and before being discarded to one corner of the house like an old unused furniture.

First of all great question, +! Well, I don't think I would. I'm too vain for that I think I'd hate to be that wrinkly. But who knows I might grow up and change my mind! Right now I can't imagine it though. Maybe if I could still look REALLY good at 100....

Lol nooo I'm afraid to go under the knife and I don't want to look like Joan Rivers ROFL! I guess I can deal with it when I get there. I'd rather look wrinkly and natural than all Botoxed up and very fake anyway. This is reeeally making me think though. I'm getting kinda freaked out thinking about it. Hahahaha.

No longer going under the knife now but it is just a painless jab on the face and you'll be on the road to a youthful face. It has become the in thing now and it seems people are queuing up to see the doctors not for their sickness but getting jabs to smooth out their wrinkles.

Doctors want to prolong the human life. But they don't think about the care that old people need. Maybe one day special health care systems for elderly people will be present in all countries. But now this is a fiction. I want to live long enough to see that my child have a good life on her own. I hope that my life will not last too long to become a burden.

I don't think I want to live until 100. There is a lot of reason why I don't want to live up to 100. First, I will be too old to do anything. Icannot travel, I cannot enjoy my life like I use to be and I cannot drink and eat like I used to. Second, there are nothing more that I want to achieve by that time. What else I want to achieve? Career? money? Enjoyment? Travelling? Nothing left for me. If I can make a choice, I would like to live up to 80 and I'm still healthy. I just want to die peacefully without causing trouble to my family and my self. Yeah, 80 will be ideal age to die.

I am of the same view with you. Nothing last forever, make use of the present to enjoy life and we won't have any regrets when our time come to leave this world.

Of course I would. Unless that would mean that I would be really sick and not really be happy anymore then no. It depends on that. If I can be healthy at that age and still have energy and all my senses then yes. That is the most important thing. I've seen old people that are really tired and have lots of illnesses and old people that don't appear to be their age and have jobs and are really productive. If I could be one of the last ones I'd love to live very very long, over a 100 years even, I think could be achievable with a healthy lifestyle.

It is not impossible to reach 100 provided you take the necessary steps from now on to take good care of your diet and health. Perhaps a spiritual life will add years to your life.

I can visualize that at 84 now you are still strong physically and mentally. I am envious of your strength and sharpness of your brain when many of your age or younger have resigned from life, laden with old age diseases and only waiting for their free passage home to the next destination. I hope I can go on living without all the pain and sicknesses to enjoy what the new technologies can offer us.

If God grant me with a long life that I live until 100 years old, then I am grateful. If not, I am still thankful. Living for a long life will witness lots of thing. Not to mention, we'll have more to tell to the younger generations. But I wonder whether I am prepared enough to live to that age. I still need food to eat, place to live and money to spend. I don't want a long life but live in poverty.

I've had these last few months tell me I'll have from 10 -40 yrs if I take care of myself............I m 62.........40 yrs. would make me 102...I realize they are reaching ! However, if I have to be a burden on my son and grandkids, I hope the Lord takes me on year 39 LOL hugs, quita

Hi quita, with the success of your heart surgery you should be happy to have that extra years added to your life. With your doctors words, your heart surgery is indeed a blessing in disguise. You now have a clean bill of health as the doctors must have overhauled everything and confident that you are now in tip top condition with many more years to live. I am happy for you.

Oh, I am happy to have this tune up! Seriously tho, after two heart attacks, two stents, one on top of the other one..the first one didn't hold.....and now they too occluded, and now a double by pass surgery and all the fear and the worry, I truly am glad to know I've had years added to my life. I am healing now and know that in a few months I can start back to my old activities which include, my granson's base ball games. It's hard now to look back and think I was that that close to dying, however the drs have fixed that. I now have the obligation to myself to protect the life given back to me. I tend to joke about it a lot but I am proud I've gotten the surgery done and I will find the reasons the Good Lord let me live. Thank you for being happy for me. I have been given the gift of life and that is all anyone can ask for. God Bless, quita

I'd want to live agelessly. Going back to your point, I'd rather die young without pain. I cannot afford to look ugly and old and that's all. By the time I might reach 100, I am disabled by lots of stuff. No more fun.

Scientists are playing God now. They are doing a lot of research to extend the human life. It is not surprising that the world will see zombies like humans walking in the street if these scientists are successful. There is a possibility of people living up to 150 years.

I absolutely do not want to live to 100! I am seriously not liking the people in this world today. Greed, selfishness, killing. Ouch! I had a job of 17 years and was bullied out of it....honest, this person just hated even looking at my face so she destroyed me. Friends....they even end up screwing you! A mentor once said "in your lifetime, you will be able to count your friends on your fingers". That is so true. Only and handful are real, true friends. I love my family more than anything, but I do not want to be an old, pain in the *&().

If conditions were set like -- if I were to retain my 25 year old body and state of health, then why not, I'll be partyin' til I'm 100! hahaha! Seriously, the only thing that makes me hesitate to say yes - I would like to live to 100, is that I don't want to suffer from all sorts of body aches and pains and illness til I'm 100. Also, I'd like to live up to 100 if my brain is still healthy, meaning, I'd rather not live to 100 if Iater on I'd get senile and not recognize members of my family. And to sum it all up, I'd rather not live to 100 if I'd be a burden to my family members, meaning, because a 100 yr old person's state of body health and state of mind needs to be in someone's constant care and attention. I'd rather be free to still manage myself and still be independent.

Yes,i wish that long so i can spend the rest of my remaining life with my kids and guide and take care of them. I love my kids but now i admit im taking a very hard time with them because its very hard to deal with them as kids. They are very naughty an d my 3 yrs old girl always want my attention but i need to do home works and online jobs like this here in my lot. I noticed i can not accomplish many tasks because i always have headache dealing with them and my siblings. My place is very depressing and noisy and lazy so it affects my working online. I just wish they will grow fast as ti want to just enjoy being with them at their teenage and beyond.

Believe me children grow up very fast. I regretted I have not spend much time with my kids when they were small. I have been to busy with my business and they were all the time taken care of by a nanny. Now they have all left the nest and I really miss them so much. Being a mother is a wonderful experience.

NO, i would not wish to live up to 100 because i don't want to get old and i know that aging process is an inevitable part of life that cannot be stopped, halted or changed but who would like to get old? I would not wish to live up to 100 because firstly, i would not be able to look after myself and it is going to be hard for my family, secondly, i am going to be like a child( i watched series about old people who are become like a child).

Be optimistic and think of old age as a blessing for having lived a long and healthy life. I envisage that old age will not be as bad as what most think. The medical field has done a lot of research to make us live longer on earth without senility.
