Did you get a tattoo right when you were 18?

I'm 20 now, so I'm a little late on this discussion. But I've known so many girls (and guys) who ran out and got a tattoo right when they turned 18. Usually a tramp stamp, but eh, whatever.
I still haven't gotten a tattoo, and I'm 20. This sounds normal, most likely to you, but when I was 15-16 I was literally counting down the days before I could get a tattoo, probably some symbol of my "punk rock"ness (i was 15-16, so you can't blame me there.)
Now that I'm 20 (yes, it's been a long 5 years), I have nothing against getting a tattoo but honestly, even when I turned 18, I could NOT think of anything symbolic or good enough to get put on me for the rest of my life, especially since I am a pretty stable person and no longer an "anarchist" (haha). Anyway, the point of this discussion is to ask you: did you get a tattoo right away when you were 18? Does it have symbolism to you?
And do you know anyone who has gotten a tattoo, as soon as they've turned 18, just for the sake of having a tattoo?

I'm way older than 18 and I still don't have any tatoo. I'm more a piercing person, and I have quite a lot, but tatoos don't really attract me. However, I'm used to see people underage with quite a lot of tatoos. As long as you can make your parents agree and sign an agreement letter you don't really need to wait. Well, at least in the countries I know, I don't know about everywhere
Getting a tatoo just for the sake of having one is a little stupid in my opinion, as I have seen many people repenting because of getting a tatoo of the boys band they liked when they were 15, and then getting laughed at once they were adults and didn't like the band anymore.

Getting a tattoo is a really serious decision im 18, and i suggested the idea to my father, and he said that it is a serious decision, it is your choice but i recommend thinking it through throughly before deciding. He was right i support his view because these tattoo's never come off your body unless you use laser surgery, but the point is as 18 year old myself i recommend just taking time and think really hard about this because its a serious choice i cant stress that enough. If you feel that the time is right for a tattoo then get a tattoo but please think it through because you may think its a stupid idea later on. much love Bryan x

When I was around 16 I was also dreaming of having a tattoo because my older brother had some and I was thinking how would those tattoos fit me. I wasn't waiting for the age of 18 years but was waiting for me to get a little bigger. Who knows what was on my mind, maybe I wanted a Dragon Ball Z tattoo because I was so crazy about DBZ when I was 16. Now I'm having my 20 years anniversary on 17 of October and don't have any tattoo.
In my opinion I think that if you really want a tattoo it should be something that means something and that it's worth carrying it on your body and have no regrets of it. When my brother had his first tattoo was a bat and he made that tattoo when he was recruited in army at the age of 20 years. Later he got bored of that tattoo seeing it so many times because it was on his left arm then he modified the tattoo and made something else of that bat. He soon got bored of seeing that tattoo and he made Wolverine from the X men on his leg, then a scorpion and the last tattoo was a viking. What I'm trying to say is, if you make a tattoo just for the love of tattoos, you will want to have another and another.
I will keep my body clean from any sort of tattoos as long as possible and if I ever want a tattoo I want it to be something unique and significant.

I'm too old, yet I don't have any tattoos.
Growing up, I never really thought of getting one. Maybe I just belong to that generation where a tattoo had negative conotations.
Last year I was into watching all the reality TV shows about having a tattoo. So, I thought I should get one. But I could not really decide on a good design to put on my skin. I kept asking myself, what if I get tired of seeing it after a few years?
So no, I didn't get any when I was 18.

I know some people who got a tattoo just to have one. Doesn't bother me, though. Their choice! Personally, I have to have meaning behind my tattoo because... I don't know, I guess since it'll be on my body the rest of my life! Haha. I did get a tattoo the DAY I turned 18! And it was raining, but I still went! I got my Chinese name on my back. Like the shoulder area back area place, haha. I had just been in China for a little over a month and I had been given a mane there and I thought it was so beautiful.

Eh I've always thought tattoos on other people looked cool (if they are actually cool and not something stupid), but then I realize that when they're about 50 or so, it's going to look pretty stupid =/
Like for example the tramp stamps. When you're 50 and your skin is all wrinkly and the tattoo's kind of faded, if you have kids by then they're going to look at their mom and be like "holy crap my mom's a tramp".
Like that would not be good role modelling at all.
And of course holy crap the pain, money, and time involved if at a later date you change your mind and decide to get it removed =/
So yeah, not a big fan of tattoos here. I don't deny that some do look awesome, but in general, just meh.

I never looked forward to being able to get a tattoo when I become 18 before that. I'm now 26 but I still don't want to do anything with my skin and I love it that way. I'm actually scared and don't really like the idea since I know it is gonna be painful for sure. I have many friends who got a tattoo but not right when they turned 18 but after working for sometimes and earning some money till they had enough to pay for it.

i prefer a body without tattoo as it is as natural as can be. Furthermore, i have seen many people who regretted having a tattoo, especially those who tattooed their bf/gf's name on their arm/anywhere easily seen and later in life they split and that tattoo is still attached....
So, no tattoo for me :p

I dont have any tattoo and I dont have any plans of getting one. Reasons? First, its pretty painful and I don't want to suffer. Second, it's only nice in the first few months and later it will look like a, etched carbon art. Third, as you grow older, your skin will lost its elasticity and it will sag, making your tattoo to be distorted.
