I'm new to high school this year and I am wondering does taking an honors class add points to your GPA? I am enrolled in 3 honors level courses and I am wondering will the honors level add points to the grade for that class therefore increasing my overall GPA?

When I was in high school, the rule was that honors and advanced placement (AP) classes have more than a 4.0 grade point at highest (A+) So technically, yes you should be able to achieve something like a 4.5 at the highest. Good luck in high school! And don't forget to have fun. Work hard, play harder! But even when you play, don't take your eyes off from the goal - which is to get to a 4-year university. Cheers!

It won't change or effect your gpa but it will show that the credits and grades you received were in honors courses. that will carry a little weight too. For instance a "B" in an honors class is actually better than an "A" in a regular class because it is more difficult to achieve.
