There is a rumour that Angus Deayton will be making a return to HIGNFY this year in a one off special!!
Anyone who is a fan of "have i got news for you" (HIGNFY) will be aware of the fact that Angus Deayton was sacked, in October 2002, from HIGNFY after sordid details about his private life was splashed across the front of the red tops - for a second time. I remember watching the first episode that went out after the media had published the first time, Paul Merton and Ian Hislop ripped it out of Angus big time for the whole show - I think Angus took it all rather well considering the situation - Angus managed to hold on to his job, but then two episodes into the next series, another round of allegations in the newspapers led to Angus being sacked.
Paul Merton has since made no effort to hide the fact that he never really liked Angus and you can hear Paul state this during one of his interviews on Parkinson. As well as that when Parkie asked him if he thought he had stabbed Angus in the back, he replied "No, I stabbed him in the front"
Some of the rumours on the internet suggest there was a rift between Angus and Paul over Paul's wife. So when the scandal broke Paul took his opportunity and had Angus fired.
Do you know about the rumours?
HIGNFY has a big anniversary this year and I wondered what you all think about the rumours that Angus Deayton will make a guest appearance as host for the show?
Do you think he should do the show?
Do you think he should come back for a whole series?
Do you think he should tell the BBC to stick it and refuse?
Do you think Paul would be able to stand being in the same room as Angus?
Do you think Ian really doesn't like Angus either?
or he just does not want to upset Paul?

Off topic comment but imagine is a woman had been sacked under similar circumstances? Misadrony, alive and well and currently residing in UK

i don't really think he should have been sacked in the first place, it had nothing to do with how well he did his job (and he was good at it). no idea if he'll do the show or not - definitely viewing figures will go up if he does and it will keep the tabloids busy for a few days.
