How does eBay prove that the buyer did not receive the item?

eBay Seller Protection is a great thing to new buyers and sellers like me. However, after selling a few items on eBay, I started to wonder how they can verify the buyer did not receive the item. If a buyer starts a dispute and says that they did not receive the item, how does eBay verify that? I know there are tracking numbers and all, but if none were provided, what would happen? I heard eBay almost always refunds the buyer. Is this true?

In my knowledge this is how it works, the seller should provide a proof of shipment of the item otherwise if he could not he would lost the case if the buyer will file a complain to ebay. I believe they gave refund but case to case basis with that I mean if they find a ground valid for you to ask the refund there are number of required days you have to wait for your refund to be issued . You can contact eBay for more details on this.

Hi do you sell on eBay? I'm from the Philippines too. Do you sell internationally?

It is true in almost all cases. I have been on both ends of this. Seller never shipped item and insisted they did. A small ring that they charged $10 to ship, for that price I would expect a tracking number. To cover myself, I always ship through paypal or USPS and always do priority shipping which has free delivery confirmation. Though I know that isn't guaranteed either. There are people out there that say they haven't received something when they did and sellers who have claimed to send stuff and haven't. It's sad people do that, but it happens.

Some products will be delivered by express, and therefore there will be a receipt to check it. If it is not sent by an express, at least it shall be sent by the registered mail and perhaps it can prove whether the seller really sends the products or not. I love China

If you don't have a tracking number, then your buyer will be refunded. Ebay won't bother to prove it. That's why I always send my items with tracking numbers so I'd be able to tell if the buyer receive it or not. Shipping your item without a tracking number will make bad buyer think it's a "gift".

If you use paypal to ship your item 99.9 percent of the time it shows that the package was delivered to the address and you do not have to do anything else. Always get your tracking number if you do not use paypal and make sure the package goes to the address and you have proof but if you do not have proof and if the buyer puts a complaint with ebay that he did not receive their package you will have problems even if he receives the item and says he never got the item he will get his money back so good luck. Moral of he story ship with paypal and you wont have any problems because ebay owns paypal also.
