How many channels do you actually watch on television?

I remember a time where there was maybe thirty channels. Maybe, because it really depended on the area that you were in. Now there are many more. However, thinking about it, I maybe only watch maybe a dozen on what passes for a regular basis out of the hundreds upon hundreds of channels that is available these days. I would have to say a monthly basis would cover it. So am I the only one who finds themselves despite having all of the channels at my disposal, maybe watching only a small fraction of them?

I am one of those people who can't seem to watch one thing at a time, I like to watch 3 or 4 shows at a time, flicking through channels on commercial. So I would say I make pretty good use of all the channels there are, but really the top ones I watch most often would be about 5 channels, usa, tbs, fox, mtv, and cbs, and on the weekends hgtv, and food network. Thats pretty much all my fav channels, so the rest of the hundreds of tv channels there are go unwatched by me. Unless there's nothing good I will flick through all of them.

There are a lot of times where I find myself hitting the last channel button going between two shows as well. Sometimes three. I think the repetitive nature of commercials also helps that fact along. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Here there are quite a lot of TV channels. I haven't counted how many they are, but at least it is nearly 100 channels. However, usually I just watch no more than 4 channels:) I am not very interested in watching TV today. I don't have enough time to sit down and enjoy watching TV. So sometimes I will just watch the news or a show only. I love China

Hi guys. Just wait until you retire. You'll be happy there is much of interest on TV to watch. Due to my somewhat handicapped condition from arithritis I sometime have no choice but to watch TV. Getting around can be painful sometime.

We probably get about 50 channels, we have very basic cable through Comcast, which works more than good because seriously all I watch is USA, TNT, and some Lifetime. So, I watch about 3 channels. I rarely watch TV though, so that's the reason.

Rarely watching television is something that I find myself more and more. Although in the end, I watch a handful of channels. A lot of other stuff is available...elsewhere, whether it be through DVD or the Internet. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

In the end, that's what it boils down to. If something does not really speak to us, we're not going to give a second look. Instead, given the amount of time we have, we're going to just watch what interests us. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I divide my time between the computer and the TV. Since I am retired I actually have more than enough time for both. What about you?

I guess I just stick to the few channels that interest me... history, discovery, tru TV, the military channel, fox... G4 once in a while. I check those channels regularly but I'm not as much a tv person. I'm more of an internet and video game person. I think it inst so great as to broaden your interests for TV because it can control your life. Its good to relax but getting out once in a while is great too!

At one time I was all about television. These were in the days before the Internet. Then as the Internet got into my life, I found myself watching television less and less. There was just more that caught my attention on the Internet. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Yeah, these days many people are down to very few channels. There are people who I know watch about that many and do not give any of the channels a second look. I guess a lot of it has to do with the niche programming not appealing to certain people. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Yeah, it does seem like that I am not watching television that much these days. It seems like the landscape has changed so much that there is little that interests me. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Hi "megamatt". I have access to two cable companies on my tv but I look mostly at one of them. I am a movie, news, and sports fan and the system I watch most has all of those in english. The other system has some good movies on it that the other one does not have also in english but the rest of the stations have information and shows in Thai . Hence, I guess I could say altogather I watch about ten (10) channels on a regular basis. Yep, I have a lot to choose from but I, like you watch only a small portion of them.

I used to watch 4-5 channels daily. I used to watch news channels mostly, as I was interested in current news. It is true that there is a big confusion with the lot of channels. If I get bored with the news channels, I turn to entertainment channels for few minutes daily.

Its good to have variety a lot of the time. However, it can really make the heads of people spin, as they try and figure out a way to keep afloat with all of the channels. It can really make even the most intelligent people struggle to find something to watch. Still the options are good for people who like to have variety. Then again, I still find myself not watching as much television as I have in the past. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.
