Depends. If I'm feeling great, I'll study as long as I can. If I'm feeling sleepy, I'll study at most for 2~3 hours. :)

I have heard somewhere that the amount of time a student should spend studying should be three times the amount of time the student spend in class. For me, I don't take count of how long I spend studying but hopefully I am somewhere near that standard. As long as you don't fail a test or go crazy because you study too much, I think that's a good amount.

I think that it all depends on the student. In my case, I know that I need longer than others, as I have a learning disability. So, I think that it depends on the student and his/her needs.

It depends on how many classes you are taking and quickly you absorb things. I usually study about 3 hours in the morning and maybe more later.

I think I study for about an hour or two. I'm not good in following time management because it just doesn't work for me.

When I was still studying, I usually allot 2 hours of study time everyday, whether or not I have an exam coming up. It worked for me because 1) It made me familiar with the concepts. 2) Familiarity made way for easier understanding and, 3) Come exam time, I didn't have to cram and spend all night studying because since I've read the material in advance already, it only needed a few hours more in order for me to master the subject. I looked at studying the way I look at exercise and physical fitness. Doing it regularly, even in small amounts, is more beneficial than cramming it all in one day. But do what works for you. Everyone learns differently, anyway. :)

To me, there isn't a certain amount of hours to study, but rather focusing on what you don't know. This may take anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour depending on your learning capability. If it were me and I didn't understand or know a topic, then I would focus on it for about an hour or so. Hope this helps.

I had one professor tell us we should study 3 hours for every 1 hour we are in class, but that's ridiculous. Of course it depends on the student. Those who have very good memories and learn more quickly will have to study less, while those with bad memories will have to study more. I am lucky to have a very good memory, so I did not study very much. I would just read everything I was supposed to read, and if the textbook had questions at the end of the chapter I would do them and check the answers to see which parts I did not know. I would then review those parts again.
