I am looking for a variety of new ideas to take pictures of things, so far I have taken pictures of people, animals ,trees along with berries. What else could someone take a photograph of? I absolutely love taking pictures of my animals more than anything because they often have funny poses and look cute doing a variety things from sleeping to play fighting, I hope to one day be able to take more pictures of animals besides my dogs but people start from scratch all of the time. So if your just starting to get into photography what was your first photo of and if your a pro at the picture taking what do you like to take pictures of?

Wow someone really rates you low if you only have a 3 by your name :( I gave you a positive for the discussion and for your comment back to me hope it helps :) I know how you felt when your waterfall picture wasent clear. Its awful when you take a picture only to find out it didnt turn out good or your blinking or something like that.

Thank you Shaggin, it is only because I have not been on here in a few months and well I figure it was time to get active again, I have been lacking pretty much and so it is very much appreciated. I agree it is awful when something does not show up like we want it to. But I think there are a series of techniques that one has to use in order to get them just right, if we do not act fast during photography it turns out horribly lol. Here is to our next go of taking pictures and they come out clear!

I had seen a water fall before when I was in upstate New York here in the states, it was absolutely beautiful but when I had taken a picture it didn't come out very well and I was pretty upset because it would of been an excellent shot to have, thank you for your input as well.

Quite a few things really, but one of the things I take most pictures of in summer are horses, mainly at show jumping competition or dressage competitions. I've also taken pictures at agility competitions and dogs shows. It's great fun, but you have to be fast :-)
I also like to take pictures of nature. Flowers, animals, abstract patterns in nature. Like this sulphur heart I saw on Iceland.

I also take some pictures of my friends and their children. Great for surprise birthday and Christmas presents!

I absolutely love horses, I used to have two horses and a mule. There are many horse jumping places around here and horse ranches that hold many beautiful animals, just do not have the money to go to the shows, but taking great pictures could lead me to them to get the picture. Thank you as well for your advice and the link, it is really appreciated. Thank you for your ideas.

I've made some money on pictures from show jumping competitions etc. I think that the main thing that stops me from making more money at the moment is my website, which isn't really finished in any way :-/ I plan to finish it so I can have a november sale, in case people want pictures for Christmas presents. I've also put some pictures on triond/picable.
You can get some really good action shot, and if you're lucky, some spectacular falls. It's no funny if the horse or rider get hurt, but I usually klick away when something happens, and then use them if both are OK afterwards.

It is good to hear that you have made some money from the pictures, I also like the idea that you have a website, keep up the work and I hope it goes great for you. Let me know when you have some pictures up, would be great for cards around the holiday seasons to pass around to family, friends and other people. I have an option on my camera for moving objects which is great, I found it out today lol and so I will be taking pictures of things that move.

I started photography with flowers mostly as my subject. And as I go through deep appreciation and interest in photography I later found myself that I was liking landscape photography. I just love the scenes that it conveys people. I do also love sunset, it’s really the golden hour in photography.
And while at home, if I have nothing to do, I pick up any interesting subject around the house to practice, this is still life photography. It’s a good way of practicing your photography skills utilizing your time at home.
Photography indeed is a great hobby. I just love the stories behind every pictures, I just love perceiving stories on my camera’s view finder. Keep shooting and enjoy!

Those seem to be good subjects to start with, I think I just need to slow down and start with something and work things into it, landscapes are beautiful along with a variety of different scenes that the earth has to offer. I have taken pictures of soda cans and a variety of other things and so thank you very much for your input, this post gave me an idea to do. Happy photo taking!

Photography is one of my frustration. I got lot of pictures especially whenever I've gone to other places. I'm a nature lover. If I would be on the profession of photography, I would want to be inclined in taking pictures of different sceneries or some abstract items.

What a beautiful child, congratulations!! Olivia is a beautiful name I am very happy for you and children are wonderful to take pictures of, I have a six month old niece that I got to watch her be born as well. Also thank you for your input here too, it is hard to see wild life here due to my dogs chasing things away. Here is to the spring and summer months of new photos!

I like to photograph scenery. Have you tried to take photos of water? Every now and then I go to the pond to take pictures of the water, trees, rocks, and ducks.

There is no water around here to take photos of, however when it rains that would be a great idea to do. Thank you for the idea though, I heard that water has a variety of characteristics and well I think I will just have to try this out. So since no water there is no ducks and I live over an hour away from a body water, until then trees and rocks it can be along with puddles!

I always look for different things to photograph, the way a clock looks against the night sky, or a city skyline, but one of my favorite things to take pictures of is candid family, friends moments. I have taken a bunch of cute moments that look great.

i used to picture clouds, shapes of clouds. i sometimes lie down and just watch it deform. it's cool most of the time. sometimes when there's none, i thought how nice to write something on it. it's my favorite color by the way, sky blue or light blue -- any shades of blue.

I am fond of photographing my daughter. evry pose is great and I'm fond of editing the pictures to make it look like professionaly done. If I have to take pictures professionaly I will take pictures of things that oftentimes disregarded or not given much attention of.. I can't realy say what they are right now, I just like to take pictures when I feel the need to. I guess that's what an artist really is.

I don't take pictures so much anymore, just don't have the time. But when I do get the chance, I love taking pictures of the sunrise and the sunset. I also like taking pictures of nature, and some buildings especially at night. What I love taking pictures of mostly kids, especially when they're asleep. There's just something so captivating about them.

I like to photograph clouds, they sky, during the day or night. it changes fairly frequently. and its incredibly beautiful where I live, Phoenix,az. or finding the beauty in small things in urban scenarios is also something fun. Bring your camera downtown and take a pic of the flowers in someones window, or a cute dog being walked. or use colored glass to add something extra to your pics. put the glass over your flash to tint your pic. =]

I enjoy taking pictures of clouds and the sky at different times of the day. Have you thought of water? It has many personalities =), although I have to say what I enjoy taking pictures of is not very original..anyways taking pictures of buildings can be enjoyable. have a good day

I was a professional photojournalist/travel photographer a few years bacl. I love taking pictures of people (specially street scenes) and travel destinations. Those are two of my most favorite subjects. :) But in my opinion, it doesn't have to stop there. Try doing projects. :) Since I'm not shooting professionally anymore, I decided to shoot a picture a day for 1 whole year --- just to stretch 'em photo-muscles once in a while. hehehehe Basically just shoot anything I want to, no particular theme in mind. That's my project now. :) ...and I decided not to use a DSLR for this project. I just use my mobile phones' built in camera. It's a bit of a challenge but it's quite fun too. :) So far I'm on my 92nd day. After I finish this project I plan to print out all the images (in thumbnails) into a single poster sized print. :)
