Recently, we have heard about the abuses committed by religious leaders against innocent victims. There are also accounts of preachers of the word who have lived a double life, preaching chastity and abstinence in the morning and then turned into unspeakable evil deeds in the evening. Some preaches love and brotherhood but at the same time propagates death and destruction in the name of God. Followers of faith attends fellowship and worship services regularly without any noticeable change in their lifestyle and habit. In the midst of all these unfortunate incidents and practices, many put the blame on religion and regard it as inutile for having failed to prevent its adherents from committing acts contrary to their faith. I am a bit bewildered. I want to know your opinion on the following: A. Do you think it is just to condemn a religion based on the action of some of its followers, B. Do you think it is justified for a person to call himself a Christian or a Muslim or Buddhist even if he does not live according to his faith? Your opinion is appreciated.

For me its not a problem if you would call yourself Christian or Muslim as long as he doesn't damage or run over other people in the process. But of course you shouldn't be a poser and act like you're one just to fit in other social groups. You can still say that your Christian or Muslim but don't over do it. Because the tendency is if you will over do it people will take you as their role model and if you don't live the way Christians and Muslims you might lead other people towards the wrong path. Now that will be a serious matter and that will be a problem.

Hello Jasonnaez,
those who don't practice what they preach are called the hypocrites, the Holy Quran asserted the worst place in the Hell for them.
[4:145]
Surely the hypocrites are in the lowest stage of the fire and you shall not find a helper for them
and of course we can't condemn a religion based on the action of some of its followers, we study the teachings of a religion itself not the actions of its adherents, both the good and the bad people exist in every single religion.
anyone can call himself what he want, even if he does not live according to his faith, but they must know that they cheat themselves before anyone else, and that doesn't diminish the fact that in the day of judgment they can blame no one but themselves for their evil deeds.
Best Regards!

In my opinion, even if i'm a Christian by birth but not by faith or choice, I would never dare call myself a Christian. I also believe that a religion shouldn't be condemned because of the act of a single person. Nobody can judge anybody. EVen God corrected Himself in punishing people just because most of them sinned a few were left, so He promised himself that even if there's only a single person who believes in Him, he would never destroy the earth again.

I don't think so. I think in order to be known by your religions name, you should practice the ways of said religion. For example, I am a Christian. I may not follow all of what the Church tells me to do, I do try and follow everything the Bible tells me to do. I believe in Sola Scriptura. If I didn't do this, I wouldn't call myself a Christian. It would be stealing a title that doesn't belong to me. I think that's how a lot of these titles get corrupted.

1) I think religion can never be blamed for the sins of some of it followers. If thats the case it would make us wonder which religion to follow. You'll find a sinner in every religion,no ones perfect not even religion.
2) Well a person can call himself whatever he wants to,there are many persons who don't follow their religion even though they are born with one.I have heard people born as Catholic or Muslim or Hindu or Buddhist still lead their life by being atheist or a non follower. Some even change their religion.Well let God decide whether they are eligible to be called that.
Hope I am correct this is my opinion some may not go with it.
Have a nice day!!
God bless you!! :)

Its rather good to be a blind than those who are pretending to be blinds. They can hear but they don't listen to every words. They have laws and commandments given to them but they don't follow and even believe, they just pretending they are follower and believers.
Those who are pretending to be followers and believers then they are fakers, these fakers are the one who likes ALL the religions of God to be condemned or to be abolished totally. They are like the viruses or the trojan horses of the real enemy of humans and God, and that is the lucifer or satan. They are really committed to corrupt any Religions humans and the real God on to this world. These pretenders, fakers, viruses or trojan horses they are not actually humans at all we are dealing here but actually its really himself the devil or lucifer or satan and he is the real humans enemy.
The enemy of the humans which is either lucifer or satan (but they are really one single entity) is really real genetically and spirituality. He is already imbedded within the religions of God thru humans genetically and spirituality.

Everyone's interpretation of holy books is different. Everyone has a different view. Everyone judges differently. If we go by your standards, no one really lives up to any religion according to every view. Labels, titles, religions aren't really the important thing in life.
