YouTube has many drawbacks. Yet it is very popular Why?

Probably because little kids around the world are using it to find out whatever they need.

I'm confused as to what you think the drawbacks are. Do you think that there aren't enough good discussions about videos? Is that it? Really the only drawbacks I think of when I think of YouTube are the numerous trolls prowling the comments, heaps inappropriate and copyrighted videos staying up on the site for ages, and the crazy way they've got the layout set up like facebook and twitter right now. It's popular because its entertaining and there are many users who are interesting and make great videos. That's what the site is for, of course.

I think its popular just because of the entertainment factor of some of the videos. I barely even pay any conversation on that website any mind. I go there, I be amused, and be enlightened, and then I move onto the next video. There is really no other purpose for myLot then to watch the videos for me. Obviously if I wanted intelligent conversation, then YouTube would be the last website that I was on. So yes, its the entertainment factor I would think most of the time. I tend to really spend a couple of hours of day at YouTube just browsing. Also, I will say that there was a need for an easy way to post videos on the Internet and YouTube came along at the right time, before it just snowballed right from there. So yeah, partly right place at the right time as well.
