Have you ever put together a Halloween costume that others just didn't "get"?

One year I was invited to a party at short notice, so I got a pair of rabbit ears on and splattered my face with fake blood and carried around a cooking pot. I was going as the bunny from "Fatal Attraction". No one got it even after I explained. And there was I thinking I was being creative. Has this happened to anyone else? Maybe my sense of humour isn't quite "mainstream". That's the polite way of saying I'm a bit twisted.
