Four big names Sachin Tendulkar the master and the man in form, attacking opener viru and indias two bowling strength zaheer and bajji not in the team against coming odi series against australia. viru is injured, and rest are rested, why resting this big talent against the top class team. will india be able to perform well without these big guns?

it will be a very tuff competition for india without these players. India will surely miss Sehwag, sachin and senior bowlers. I think these players should be played against the No:1 in the rankings.

I think it is pretty much ok for the selectors to experiment with some of the youngsters. Right now India is riding high on confidence after the whitewash of Australia, so it is a good time to blood in the youngsters. I think we have at least 5 or 6 spots in the ODI squads where in people have not booked their spots. So hopefully we will have some people finally staking claim for these spots. Cheers! Ram

but australia is a strong team, should we experiment against aus? and we are making this experiments to find some good talents, but even if we find someone as good we are not going to include them in worldcup squad, because we have rested some seniors aiming the WC.so what is the use of doing this experiment

Even the Aussies have rested Ponting and Hussey. So in that way it is almost similar for both the teams. Cheers! Ram

to be honest,it is not making any sense to me. i really appreciate the selectors giving chance to youngsters before world cup and strengthening the bench. i really do. but when are they going to strengthen the playing XI? for all i know, sachin might have even quit ODI because he hasnt played a single ODI from february.well he is different as we have seen in champions trophy so he will do alright even if he plays only the world cup. but what about zaheer? we are not going to play test matches against other teams on february next year.that is ODI and we all know that zaheer is not that exceptional IN ODI. and i dont know what to make out of bhajji.is he a wicket taker or run-container? gambhir is making it his habit to injure himself. so what is going to be our starting XI in this australian series? no sachin.sehwag or gambhir? who are they gonna open with?vijay or dhavan? as inexperienced as it can get? lets have a small look at the batsmen. vijay had a not so wonderful start to his ODI career, dhavan,if he plays, will be his debut match. i stopped expecting anything from the bat of Dhoni as he proved it in the test series. raina will be easy with short balls. we then have rohit, jadeja who are not that confident. only our bowling looks better with ashish, praveen and ashwin. so i go with 4-1 in favor of the aussies and probably that will make the selectors think twice before resting the big players. cmon.aren't the youngsters given chance again and again for the last 7 months?

our second eleven team once failed against poor zimbawe, now we are experimenting against aus, i dont know what they mean. and will the selectors pick these guys to WC squad even if they perform in this series.the players who are rested has already reserved for WC squad, then what is the use of this experiment?

4 big names are indeed missing, no doubt about that, but if they are there than others may not get chance...so in a way it is good they are rested so that we can create bench strenght for the world cup...moreover we have a good batting line up in the likes of Kohli & Shrma in the team and couple of youngstr in Dhawan and Tiwary who deserve to get a chance in the team...in the bowling Ashwin has to get a chance to prove that he is not only an IPL material and the other bowlers are very decent and ODI performers in their own right...so this Indian team is not weak but yes missing big names...so I don't think so it is a set back to India..

bench strength? every time we try new ones and speaks about bench strength, if the selectors dont show belief on the talented players they will not grow up.

YA great players like sachin and viru not in the team is certainly going to affect the Indian team. But i think resting them is a good decision. It will give opportunity to young players. Even in the absence our team is very good and players selected are talented. I think the selection of ashwin is good. I think Pujara should also be included in the squad considering his performance in the test. Also , the australian team also misses some senior players. Ithink this team is sufficient to defeat aus..

ya surely batting is not a big concern. but bowling not a good one. not a talented bowling line up. its the battle between two big teams standing top on rankings. hope that we can watch a good match.

Yes sure it will be a set back for India. Taking your main performers out the game is not going to help India. But India is taking this series as a preparation series before the World Cup so that they can get a pool of players from which they will select the final scoured for the World Cup. Every series is important and we cannot loose the series saying we are giving chance to youngsters. Hope the young team fills the shoes of the big players and win the series.ALL THE BEST TO TEAM INDIA FOR ODI's.

Hi venkit, I think it is a wrong decision on part of the selectors to rest these players barring the one who is injured. We have seen time and again when India rests their senior players they have fared very badly. Take the recent case of triangular series in Zimbabwe. They lost to Zimbabwe in their first match. We can't take Australia for granted because we have won the test series. Test matches and O.D.I.'s are entirely different ball games. We should not forget that Australia is still the number one team in O.D.I. Anyway let us wish them all the best.

ya surely aus are very strong, specially in odi, selectors should have picked the team with a little more caution.these are big names missing the team and only the CAPTAIN IS THE ONE NOT GIVEN REST FROM SENIOR LIST

I don't understand why they put sachin on rest in ODI matches.. i haven't seen him after his 200 runs. Four main players are not in ODI team this can surely effect the result of the series.. I hope not!!!

ya after making that mile stone of 200 in ODI sachin has not yet played a single odi matches. why the selectors are keeping away the man in form? they should have given sachin the chance to play atleast first 3 odi. without some big names the series is becoming more interesting to watch that how the captain and youngsters perform
