The manager called me yesterday to tell me that I'm already hired. Now she tells me to report on Monday.
Does it really take that long? Sorry, I'm just wonderin' coz this is my first job.

It all depends on the company and its payday schedule. Its usually easier to start someone on a Monday. I have had three different jobs in my 32 years of working and I always started on a Monday. Good luck to you and your new job I hope you will grow to love it.

Yes, I think all the new-hires start on Monday. It's easier to keep tabs on it that way, depending on the company's payment method. And I think it will also give the new employee some time so they get the time and chance to prepare for the job, or make arrangements if necessary. I also have always started on Mondays, too.

It depends on the company, there are some who would give you 2 weeks to prepare your requirements that they need, then after completion you can start working with them. And there are some who would ask you to report the following day after final interview, especially if they really need staff.
