Kroger Brand Items

Ever since the recession hit I have been buying more and more Kroger brand items instead of the more expensive and well known brands. It saves me a lot of money and I usually get more quantity-wise as well. I have found that on almost every item, the Kroger brand is just as good and sometimes even better! For instance the frosted mini wheats are way better tasting than the real cereal and get this: it has the same amount of sugar! I don't get it - I feel like I have been wasting my money all of these years. There are a few items however that are the exceptions and aren't as good. The pop tarts of the Kroger brand are barely edible. They taste like they were made from a recipe dating back to the Stone Age. Have you switched also to Kroger or generic brand items? Have you been cutting back? Will you go back when the cash flow returns?

Well since we dont have Kroger and i usually shop for everything at Walmart i buy most everything the walmart brand. I dont see why you wouldn't buy it because it does save money and htere really isn't much taste difference in the two by any means. Saving money is important because then you can do other things then just grocery shop all the time of course. I haven't been jsut doing this since the economy has turned bad but ever since those not name brands have come into the stores because even then the family was trying to save money to do other things in life that are important. You do get more for your money but sometimes the name brands are cheaper of course but you have to think beyond that and look at everything and the size of the two is more important. See the sizes and compare those to see then which one is the better deal of course. Now only if Meat was cheaper then we would all be doing ok, but that doesnt seem to be getting any cheaper like gas prices.

Yes Walmart is frequently cheaper, but the Kroger brand is a better product. Kroger might cost a little more, (a few pennies) but the difference in price is worth paying for better value and quality.

What we have here is Superstore and we also have store brands. I do find some of the Superstore items quite good, but would not buy their clothes. I find that their p0ts and pans quite as good and the same as the other brands. Also for sheets and pillowcases. I also find that Safeway's Lasagna is excellent but that of Superstore not as good. I find that Superstore's can openers are not that good and their food products contain a bit too much sugar except for their tomato sauce. So some of the products are good and some bad and in our Superstore, we get points that after a while we can use to buy things.

I usually buy off brand items including Kroger brand. Even their coffee isn't too bad, which is good since the flavor we like is one of the most expensive ones..

hi Rallon I have not seen Kroger brand in the stores around here inGardne Grove Ca. Maybe they do not sell them this far west. I do often use generic brands though and for things like Benadryl and Ibuprofin I can get the generic equivalent for so much less.I have read that in Safeway and Vons a lot of generic stuff is manufactured right in the same plant as the real item so its all the same darned quality. so why pay more? I have to watch every penny as I rely on only Social Security and SSI checks for most things and mylot earnings for paying my net bill. lol.

I believe the products with the brand Kroger should be the same as other brands which you can get in the market or within the Kroger stores. May be the manufacturers do not allow the price of it's products to be lower than it's recommended retail price. Because of this reason, Kroger has to use a different name as well as it's own laberl and it's own name with the same product. Just to keep in mind that we should evaluate the products by quality and not the brand.

I am a loyal Kroger customer. I really appreciated the 10 cent per gallon gas rebate and now that I have the Kroger 1 2 3 Rewards Master Card. I earn even more savings when I buy Kroger Brand plus using that credit card to buy Kroger Gas I get 15 cents a gallon off the price. I also get $5.00 cash coupon every couple of months. It certainly helps now that prices are so high.

I like Kroger I went there yesterday and they had the mix and match where you can buy any ten items and when you get to the register you can take $5.00 off it was cool!! I bought ten microwave dinners and some grapes and a couple of bananas and the total price was only $20.00 That was a great deal because my frezer is full!!

I do not have a close kroger but I agree with you. I have been resorting to way cheaper items than perhaps a year ago and have been amazed also as it was the name we were paying for not the product, so even if my financial situation gets better, I have learned form this recessional period that I do not have to follow trends, just save money.
