Have to vent and maybe some people can post their own experiences. I started writing for Reviewstream, and I knew it was going to take a long time to reach the $50 payout, since all my reviews are the kind that get accepted at bulk rate. So, I was fine with that. I wrote reviews, got a fair number accepted. I'm up to $12 dollars now. So far so good. But, I noticed that recently all of my movie reviews are getting rejected. I can't say for sure, but I don't those reviews are any worse quality than any of the accepted reviews. So I wondered if it's because I write mostly about classic movies. I also read that if you keep writing reviews on the same topic (I don't mean the exact same thing over and over, I mean all movie reviews or all books) they eventually start rejecting them. Because I write almost entirely book, movie, and tv reviews. That's the only thing I really know enough about to give an opinion on. Anyway, I sent an email asking about these things. I was given a very confusing answer. I was told they don't want hundreds of reviews on movies or tv shows by one person. Then in the same email, I was told I could write as much as I want on one topic. Those two sentences contradict each other. Either there's a limit of how much one person can write on a topic or you can write as much as you want. You can't have it both ways. Also, I haven't written hundreds of reviews on anything. I know some people have reached payout. Do you write over a wide variety of categories, or do you specialize? Because I'm thinking it will be too hard to reach the $50 if I can't write my book, movie, and tv reviews. It would take a lot of reviews writing on those topics, but I have opinions on a lot of those things. I might be able to crank out one or two reviews on something else a year, but not enough to make pay out. And it's too bad, because even with the high pay out and even with only making .50 cents a review I thought this was something I could do. And one more thing before I stop whining. They seem to allow you to make the same error again and again, and then later on tell you you're doing it wrong. I've been putting quotes around the titles of my reviews and that hasn't been a problem. They accepted most of them. Now, in the email response, I was told I shouldn't be doing that. That should be mentioned after the first review that I did it in, or it should be in the guidelines. Same with needing the titles to mention the type of product you're reviewing. Those are easy. I'm fine with taking the quotes out from my titles and saying when I'm reviewing a book or a film. But, I can't know that upfront unless they say. I'd hate to think possibly reviews are being rejected based on things that can easily be fixed but that I hadn't known were a problem. So has anyone had similar problems? Or good experiences that can help me continue to work at the site and eventually reach pay out? I thought I might even manage $50 a month if I worked really hard, but I think I'll be lucky if I get to pay out one time.

I do think that Review Stream is a good site to write reviews and get paid, but yeah, the staff isn't the most helpful. They tend to leave very confusing advice that doesn't make a lot of sense all the time, but it's okay. I'm still getting money from them so I'm happy with the site.

Hello!I understand your predicament. Reviewstream has gone quite strict these days. Gone are the days when your articles would get automatic approval and your account get automatic credit. Now they pay mostly bulk rate and would rarely give the standard rate. In my case I still do get standard rate provided I write topics about electronics, home appliances, health and medicine. But it should be at least 500 words and very descriptive and would contain helpful details on advantages and disadvantages of the products based on my own experience. There were months that I really earned so much from that site and proofs are here if you care to check some of them http://evergreenlily.blogspot.com/2010/09/earn-money-reviewing-products.html Nowadays, I rarely write for them because I have almost written practically all products and services I've tested and used. But I still have 53.50 dollars remaining with them. I am not yet cashing out because I want to add some more reviews. I would be very hard for me to reach another 50 so I want to make sure I have written about all the remaining products and services I am presently using before cashing out. Then probably that is already the end of my writing career at Reviewstream. I have already earned a lot from their site and I am thankful to them. Now I seemed to have already ran short of items to review so then I am devoting my time to other site where I could probably earn just as much as I did from Reviewstream. I am still looking for a site that would pay just as Reviewstream but I have not found such a site yet which is open to international users. Meanwhile I hope you could learn from your experiences from reviewstream. Inasmuch as you have already invested time and you have already earned some few dollars then go on till you reach 50. They pay quickly. My account gets credited on the same date I request payment.

I stopped writing for reviewstream a few months ago because their admin can be so rude, and mostly unhelpful. I have received several payouts from them mostly by trial and error. Don't expect helpful answers from them - they live to confuse. The irony is that this is site is suppose to be for writers, and their admin has terrible grammar and spelling. That's probably why you are confused. I have had so many irritating experience with them that I just gave up. The only thing that attracts writers to them is that they give upfront payments. I wrote a lot of reviews on electronics, and have even gotten paid the full amount on a lot of them. The website says that they favor reviews on electronics, travel and cosmetics. Movie and TV reviews are not that popular there. That's probably why you keep getting rejected. Why don't you try selling the rejected reviews on other sites like shvoong.com or triond.com? That's what I did. But these sites pay per page views but if the article is good, I don't see why you will not earn there. Finally, although I have a lot of complaints about reviewstream, I am still planning to go back since its the only site (so far) that gives upfront payments. If you need help, PM me and I will try to help as much as I can.

I've been paid twice, I've half way planned to tried to reach the third payment before Christmas. I agree with you about confusing rules though, and they're not really written down anywhere. One thing though, the reviews are checked first by other reviewers. They might let things pass that the admins "strike down" on. I've written different reviews, but also have quite a lot of book reviews. I plan to do a mix for the next payment too, as you only get bulk payment for book and film reviews so writing some electronics and travel reviews help. I got a message saying I should put the word "book" in the title when I reviewed a book though, I most definitly agree they could have put that in the guidelines somewhere. Another thing I've been confused about is what travel reviews they actually want. Haven't written to ask though, I've just the rejected ones on IgoUgo. Still haven't reached payment there (gift vouchers on amazon) so I should write more about my latest travels.
