Hamsters are EVIL

My little brother showed me a video they got when they were at a local pet store. They were looking at hamsters in a cage. There were 5 living hamsters, 4 were alive and dragging a dead one to and fro the cage and eating it. At first I thought they were just playing but when they zoomed in on them, they were biting the head of the hamster and trying to eat its flesh. I was appalled to see them like that. The other hamster was playing cute to the camera. When my brother and his friends asked the clerk if they were feeding the hamsters, he said they did and that that was a normal activity of the hamsters. I was like, 'What?'. Have you ever heard of such a thing? Evil hamsters?? I am not talking about Stitch's nemesis, Hamsterbill.

Eww.....Yes I did hear about this few times but I never saw it with my own eyes though. When I was small, I wanted to have hamsters as a pet, I kept on seeing them at the market being sold. I used to cry to my mum because she would not let me get them. She said it is not good and brings evil lol. I did not really understood what she meant though. Anyway, I was lately planning with my partner to get a hamster as a pet when we move in together, and he said of course we would, but now you said that, I'm going to cancel my plan. I do not like to have such pet

You heard about other stories like this? Wow. I never thought of anything bad about them. We see them as these cute and cuddly pets but there is something 'mean' in them. lol Maybe you could try and get a hamster, provided that there are no other hamsters to 'feed' on. ;)

Stine, how can they be territorial when they are in a cage? I know the other animals are mean. Duh. But the hamsters have always been depicted to be cute and cuddly. They haven't been depicted to be cannibals.

For my point of view hamsters are not evils... They have this instinct taht when another hamster get sick or has a defect thaey will eat it to help that hamster not to bear the pain any longer or to harm another hamster..

Hi lynlypiochy, i am a hamster owner, actually this is my second time to have hamster pets, the first time (about 4 years ago)was i did not know how to take care of them. We bought a pair and the female got pregnant. They were in the same cage and when the female delivered i tried to pick her babies up cause they're kinda cute. When i put them back the mother hamster swallowed them all one by one. I asked the pet shop owner about it and he said that hamsters are so possessive of their babies that they should not be handled by anyone until they have furs already. He even recommended to separate the male hamster when its time for the mother hamster to give birth. The next time she got pregnant i saw to it that no one will pick up the baby hamsters until they are weaned and have furs. From two hamsters they became 21 hamsters. They did not fight each other though they live in one cage. They even sleep side by side. Sadly, they got sick one by one and the veterinarian was not able to treat them. Two months ago we bought a pair again and they are now four because the mother hamster had two babies and we are enjoying taking care of them.

Not really funny but... XD Do hamsters show canabalism in nature? I wonder. Either way, an weird and unforgettable experience, right? Now it sounds to me like they are evil LOL

I would like to correct myself here. Cannibalism and not canabalism. My bad. =D I don't know if they really do, I just heard this one story. If I hear from others, I might conclude that they are. lol It is really weird. If only you could see the video.

Well, I did alot of research before getting my hamster. I found out that teddy bear hamsters (the type I have) are EXTREMELY territorial and will mutilate each other if they feel as though their territory is being threatened. Even siblings, after maturing at about 8 weeks, will rip each other apart. I'm pretty sure that it's one of a few, if not the only type of hamster that does that.
