My daughter who is in class tenth avoids studies. This is not because she is a dull student but according to her she can study the just before the exams and even then get 85%. I do not seem to know of ways to encourage her to get more than that.. Any suggestions?

i'm also a student but i agree to studies,,, because ,, if there's a study,, the children will learn about the lessons in our society ,, and know some respect into their teacher or parents...

from your words, it is clear that your daughter is a bright student. But it does not mean that she has to just study before the exams. Better take her for some counseling as it can help a lot and also you can also get relief from your tension.

Hi tw99384, I can tell you from my experience as a teacher and a student that bright kids, who manage to get good results with little effort, are the most difficult to handle. The best way is to encourage her in a direction she really enjoys - which might be an extra-curricular activity. It could be fashion, or music, or reading literature - if you can find an evening or summer course for her, it could be great. Especially if it's a course for older people, because then she'd feel more challenged to perform well (you can even take the course together). It's important that she gets the habit of studying without the pressure of exams. Another option is to praise her when she does better then usual - let's say, when she gets over 90%. You might want to discuss with her teachers, who can inform you when she showed she did an extra effort in school, so you can reward her.
