I think we should qualify on the word selfish because it connotes negative implication.. And selfishness is being childish, you want everything for your self even though it may be bad for others as long as you get what you want.. But thinking for the good of your loved ones, of yourself having a nice healthy living and of everything under control, is loving your very self.. It's not selfishness but love...

Selfishness is the human instinct. So people pretend to be free of selfishness but no can over come from this feelings. People are selfish towards their relation.
It is not easy to say whether selfishness is good or bad. But we can say that selfishness is just a human nature.

I believe so. Everyone of us have our own selfishness. We think of ourselves, our desires, our wants without considering the feelings of other people. We are self centered by nature. It is a defense mechanism and an innate trait to think ourselves first than others.
