Hi there guys! Well, my boyfriend and I celebrated our first year anniversary last month and I though of baking him butterscotch bars as a gift since he really wanted to try something that I would make or bake. So I got a recipe from the internet and I baked it a day before our anniversary. But sadly, it didn't come out the way that it was supposed to. It was too salty. I think I added too much butter. But I did follow the recipe precisely. Oh well. My boyfriend still liked it and he ate all of it. At least he appreciated it. What about you guys? Any baked for the first time stories?

Wow good for you. I guess practice does make perfect. Or if not perfect, then it makes it better. Will try to practice again soon when I have time. Thanks!

The only disaster from when I first started cooking, I was trying to make cookies but I added milk which made the recipe into a cake. Yeah not quite the cookies I wanted to make as a teenager.
Don't beat yourself up as long as it's edable it's not a complete disaster *LOL*

Adding milk made the cookies into cake? wow! That's the first time I heard that. Yeah you're right, I should just try and try until I master the art of baking. Thanks for sharing.

Hi,
My first time bake cake is Muffin..it is blueberry muffin and
I bought the muffin mixture when I was travelling to Singapore.
The taste is great and the outcome is fine, very nice.
Both me and my husband love it,but now I hardly bake any cake.
Just no time to do it. and I hope I can find some free time
to bake in future.

Good thing yours turned out well. Your muffin mixture must be delicious. I wish I could bake something like that too in the future. Thanks for sharing.

I have been baking far too long now to remember my first thin! I just thought that I'd add a little comment on your butterscotch bars, it sounds as if you may have used salted butter rather than unsalted and that is what made it too salty!
But you keep on with your baking I am sure that you'll soon be really good at it and also get a lot of pleasure from doing it.
Good luck

I think you're right. I guess that really contributed to the salty taste of the butterscotch bars. I will try to find unsalted butter next time. Thank you for your suggestion. I will try to bake some more next time. Thanks again!
