Hello myLotters. There are many members in the myLot community from countries around the world. I have the opportunity once in a while to travel overseas, and is always so interesting to hear people speaking their native languages. It also helps a lot ofcourse to participate in those communities if one can speak the languages. Do you like learning foreign languages ? Do you have a second language ? What is your second language ?

I'm Indonesian, so my second language is English. I've learn English in small English course in my town. Hoping that my English understandable, but sometimes in live conversation, I've trouble to find a word to say something. Need practice more in speaking, I think. :)

I love learning foreign languages! Of course, english is my second language, but I've been speaking it from ever since. I started a formal lesson in Japanese when I was young, but was not able to finish it. Maybe I'll try again because I love anime (I can't understand some words, plus, I couldn't catch up when they speak fast!). Spanish, I also study on my own - it's easy to learn because a lot of words from my native tongue come from that language. I also want to learn Korean (Kpop and drama fan ) and Chinese (to get better deals with the chinese businessmen in my country ). If given more time and resources, I'd also like French, German, Italialn, etc.! Any more suggestions? I had a teacher in college who spoke a lot of different languages, and it was really, really cool.

obviously right, i love to learn foreign language, cause i love to speak another language aside from my own original language, i love to communicate with other people with there own language.........learning another language is very important to us, because if ever you encounter a person who does not know how to speak your language still you can communicate to that person by using his or her language, and it is also fun of learning another language....

I only know a second language because I am required to in school. I am really good at Spanish which is what I take and I got student of the year for it. My mom wants me to get a career relating to Spanish but I don't really enjoy it that much I wish I did because I am good at it but unfortunately I don't enjoy it. Maybe someday I will and can possibly make a career out of it. But probably not.

I took French when I was in elementary school. I also got some French records and a book to go by along with a dictionary after I got grown. I didn't keep it up, though, I hate to say, because I'm involved with so many other things. If I had the time, I would probably take it up again. There's a lot that I've forgotten. I agree with you. It is interesting to go to foreign countries and hear the people speaking in their native language. It also helps if you can understand what they are saying, lol.

Yes, i like learning others languages. My second language is english although my english is not all perfect. I still made grammatical errors. When i was in college spanish is included in our curriculum and its nice to study the language. When i was already working i was facinated by one of my student- boardmate who was studying Nihonggo or the Japanesse Language. I enrolled in one of the school her just for the fun of it. But since the language was not frequently spoken i almost forgot about it.

Hi! I'm from Singapore! Our first language is English and my mother tongue's Mandarin Chinese. I'm fluent in both and I also speak some very simple French. I love learning a new language since it's interesting how different terms/meanings/sayings might be attributed to different things in different languages. Learning new languages are hard though, especially after one passes the critical period for learning them. Here are a few questions: Is anyone learning Chinese or has tried to do so? Did you find it interesting? Can you write in Chinese? Do you think that Chinese characters look weird? :)

My native language is Filipino, and English for my second language (it was taught during kindergarten). But I always wanted to learn Mandarin and Fookien, Japanese, French, Italian. Back in college we were taught two semesters of Spanish both basic and advanced classes. My Spanish is not that fluent like Filipino and English but I can speak and understand some.
