is it fair that life is so short?

I think that life is too short, and it's getting kind of wasted on educational system while we could actually go through the system faster for some years. But then people would have to work more, actually...why not? If people could find jobs they like they could work longer there, the educational system is too wide, everyone should choose what he wants, because if I don't want to study psychology for example, why should I get a mark for it?
