Mandriva or Ubuntu for media center?

I'm trying to decide between Mandriva or Ubuntu to put on an old desktop I just plan on using for photo editing, music and such, maybe an occasional game or two that can handle it. Which would support those needs best? And with Mandriva, KDE or GNOME? Or is it simply a matter of preferance?

i tried mandriva and i think that is really friendly as linux distro for private use especially!!Naturally as regards media center but also in general i like more ubuntu if i must choose between these 2 only!!As regards interface i like the KDE ones..Gnome is ok,simple nd user friendly but i think ok KDE there will be an higher grade of personalization than on gnome!!
