What would you do if you found out that your friend is a kleptomaniac? Would you run away or stay?

My best friend went through a little klepto phase when we were teenagers. It was actually more funny than anything. Once she grew up and started working regularly and had bills to pay she grew out of it.

Hello, If you classed your friend as a TRUE friend the you would not even think about runing away and leaving them to their own problems. Kleptomania is not a contagious disease and cannot harm you in any way or form at all. It is a mental condition which can only be helped / cured with help from professionals AND friends. Just my humble thoughts on the subject. Have a calm day.

I will definitely stay. It will not be a reason for me to leave my friend just because I found out that he/she is kleptomaniac. If I do that then I'm not a good friend.

If it's a good friend, definately stay. Try to get them the help they need as they probably won't be able to stop on their own. Kleptomania is a disorder that they need to take control of and overcome. It's not an easy thing to do. Especially on your own. Most cities have help centres for these types of issues. Find one for your friend and take them there. It won't be easy helping them. It can be frustrating, humiliating (especially if they are caught stealing something when you are with them), and at times will make you downright angry. But give it everything you've got. If you can help this person now you will be helping to give them a better life in the future.
