I was watching The Holiday- a movie where two women decide to live in each other's homes during Christmastime because they are running away from bad relationships. Mind you, these women have never and don't even come face to face before or during the exchange.
Anyway, I was wondering if you would ever exchange homes with a stranger to vacation in a country you've never been to before, in a home you've never seen that belongs to a person you've never met and have that stranger stay in your home?
Or has anyone ever done that before?

I have never done that before. I always avoid to get a strange person in my home. This's too dangerous! I don't think that it's a good ideas. If I would be alone and I need some persons, I'll call my friends or my relatives.

I've never done it before. I loved that movie though. And watching it made me want to do it. I've thought about looking it up. But where I live there really isn't anything impressive. So I don't think anyone would be interested in coming to my area. It is a nice idea though.

I would really like to see that movie. I have heard of house swapping. It might be that a family from Los Angeles in America swap their house for three weeks with a family from Perth in Australia. Then all the people would have to pay for is their airfare. I haven't ever tried house swapping but think it is a great idea. I don't think I would ever try house swapping. I have in the past let out my cottage that I owned. Then it gave me a monthly income useful for my travels.

I don't like the idea of a stranger roaming freely in my house, so there answer is a no. I don't think someone would do this either (would they, can't really be sure about this). Even if I have a problem from bad relationships, I'll escape to the beach, countryside, whatever - not into someone else life. I'll still face the problems when I return. The temporary escape is just to clear my mind.

Hi Vjenkins
I know the movie your speaking I think it was called THE HOLIDAY it had Cameron Diaz,Jack Black, and Jude Law in it I enjoyed the movie even though I am not a big Cameron Diaz fan but in answer to your topic yes I think I would if I had the finanical means to do so I think it would be interesting and fun to be someone different for the Christmaas Holidays to see how other people around the world celebrate it but it would have to be in a region where there was cold weather or snow to make the atmosphere more cozy

I love this movie and i want to think that this is possible and safe but i don't think so. I want to go to spend my hollydays in LA too. ( I don't want Jack Black!!!) But i don't mind Jude Law :) It's great and cheap way to visit different country, and i really want to know has anyone does it yet, too?
