come Nov. 1, you will see ads and news in TV ,newspapers and magazine Pinoys celebrating Halloween as if it's a part of our traditions. WEll, I don't celebrate Halloween cause we don't have witches and pumpkins here but what we have is the forgotten traditions of "Nangangaluluwang Kambing" or Ghost carolers. I pity those people insisting on a borrowed traditions and not knowing what's ours. Pinoys, wakeup love your traditons and be proud of it! BY the way, in some remote barangays in Bulacan, "Nangangaluluwang Kambing "is still practice and kept alive by those who are proud of being Filipinos!

Personally I don't like Halloween. I don't know the real meaning of it. and why do people wear scary costumes. Maybe I don.t celebrate it because it is not part of my culture. But if kids go to our house and ask for treat I give them cookie or chocolates.

I don't celebrate Halloween, I think not many people in my country celebrate this day. I just know some people will celebrate this in the pubs, but not really going for "trick or treat" kind of activities. Actually I do not know the tradition of Halloween, I just got to know this festival from Internet. Perhaps it's time for me to go and find out more about this festival.

its my first time to read such tradition. halloween is a yearly event for us. kids are prepared for their halloween costumes which is done at the cemetery where our loved ones are buried then party all night. we stay there until morning then be back again in the afternoon and sleep over again for the 2nd day. it would be diffrent this time because our angel nephew passed away last jan. baby lucas was only 4 yrs old.

You haven't heard of a tradition known by all Catholic Filipinos called "Araw ng mga Patay" (All Souls' Day)?
It is the tradition that we observe around the time when western worlds celebrate their Halloween. This happens every November 2 of each year. What we do is go to the cemetery and visit our loved ones who passed away. Clean up their tombs, put flowers, light up candles, pray and or reminisce the times they were still living.
There are also a lot of superstitions that evil spirits and creatures of Filipino folk tales (aswangs, tikbalangs, manananggals, etc) also gets out and a lot of horror movies are shown all day.
Lately there are surges of so-called Halloween parties and costumes, but average Filipinos dont really know kids are supposed to go trick or treat and ask for candies and chocolates from their neighbors during these days as their western counterparts often do.

I actually love Halloween. But that stems from my love for horror movies. If I could dress up as my favorite psycho killer or monster, I would... but I'd look like a fool if I did that and walked around our neighborhood. hehehe. I love going to Halloween parties though. :)
