Safety helmets

I have to honestly admit that I don't wear a helmet when I am riding my bike. I think that the main reason that I don't wear a helmet is because of the fact that I grew up in a time before bicycle helmets were made popular. That said, I do think that it is important to wear helmets, but it is just a habit that I've not been able to teach to myself as an adult in a world that has changed since I was younger.

Hi, Professor2010! I'm amazed that in India riding a bicycle needs wearing safety helmets too. In China only motorcycle riders wear them. Are Indian bicycle riders ride very fast?

ut on a busy street lke that yes should hav had on the helmet might have saved him from ding. Sad sight to see for sure!

here in the US if the police catch you without bike or motorcycle helmet you get a large fine. I think its so sad when they do not wear them as so many lives could be saved as head injuries are the big killer here as probably there in India too Professor;that was indeed a sad sight. poor fellow and if he only had worn a helmut.

dear professor, wearing a helmet when using or riding a motorbike, or a bicycle is a must. that is to protect the head in case of accidents. so why do they put that in the bike handle when the purpose in not to protect the handle.. but the head.. is a big question to me. have a nice day. ann

Hi Professor, During festival times,there will be lots of rush and traffic jams in the roads.Some youngsters hate those traffic jams and they break some of the rules.Usually most of the persons in my country don't use Helmet.Helmet is a body guard for the person who is driving on a bike.It will protect him from major injuries.It is also true that most of the person would rest their Helmets in the handle bar.I can see so any of this things n my city.Using Helmets should be made a definite rule.The government should impose fine on those guys who were not wearing Helmets.The rules of the government might change the trend and prevent such accidents.

In my country, the government has forced to wear a helmet when going by motorcycle since several years ago. And for bicycle, not mandatory. I think we should wear helmets whether motorcycle or bicycle. It is better for us, our family, society. When the government didn't force to wear helmets on motorcycle. There were some persons wearing. They are careful persons, usually teachers, officials. But when helmets are mandatory, there are some who deliberately relate. Usually they are young and adventurous people. Many parents excuse helmets is not good for the development of children so they don't wear helmets for their children. One fact is that a lot of helmets are of low quality, they won't protect the user's head when accidents happen. They are just to deal with traffic polices. They are cheap and fashionable. Many people appreciate helmets' price than their quality. I know they love themselves but why don't they protect themselves? Wear helmets when participating in traffic.Nobody protects you better than you.
