If i have a terrible nightmare, there is no going back to sleep. i have to find something else to do to take my mind from it. When my head is free from all thoughts of the nightmare, i caan usually get back to sleep without any problems.

I always take a glass of milk before sleeping. Milk contains some chemicals that help to calm us down. I haven't got any nightmares in a very long time.

Hi there umklassg,
I don't know how terrible your dreams were.. But in my case, my definition of terrible is waking up crying.. I hate dreams that make me cry. Because most often it concerns my loved ones and I don't like it..
There are also times that I dream of my teeth loosening from it's roots and I am afraid of those kind of dreams.. Old folks say dreaming that kind of thing means a bad thing might happen with the people around me.. But I know how to contradict it. When I wake up, I bite into my pillow and say " hope it'll hit a tree " which means, hoping it will hit a tree instead of a person.. talking about the 'bad thing' that is.
I don't know really how to deal with terrible dreams, but definitely prayer helps..
Pray before sleeping so that you'll have peaceful sleep..
