I'm not sure when my friends chat give his real name, and therefore I did not give him my real name to. For security

In an online chat? Whether I trusted them or not wouldn't have anything to do with them revealing their real name. Using screen names is a common practice online that I don't think has anything to do with being untrustworthy.

Chatting is basically for fun, meeting new people despite the fact that they are total strangers to you. I don't necessarily believe that a chat mate always speaks the truth online but of course like them we don't reveal everything about ourselves. I don't trust people easily much more to a chatmate who is a total stranger. I am not seeing anyone so easily to someone who I just meet only in the internet.

I see no reason to reveal your name since you have been chatting for a while, how much can they destruct just with your name. I mean we go to any public place and introduce ourselves all the time to complete strangers.

I don't see that as a reason to not trust them. It's the internet nature, we all here use nicknames, and if we go to chat, I will continue with my nick for a while, at least until they ask me.
That is, on public, when strangers have free access, I hide myself and my identity, while with friends (real or just chat) on private I reveal more things about me.
