I posted the link to the meaning of it on my respone to #1.
Yeah it could involve chocolate or just showing your loved one you appreciate them. I know dark chocolate has some antioxidents in it but it's just too bitter for my taste.

We actually don't tend to celebrate Sweetest Day or Valentines Day. The reason that we do things the way that we do is because of the fact that both of us see both of the days as being a way for the stores to make extra money and seeing as how we are trying to save money, it just makes more sense for us to keep our money in our pockets. That said, we always tell each other that we love the other on a daily basis and we really don't need anything more than that.

Sorry I just haven't heard about it before. Is it a new holiday? They never even mentioned it on the local news. LoL. Its a good thing it doesn't involve candy because my Hubby has diabetes and can't digest sugars. Well, I hope it was a nice Sweetest day for you and the people that you love.

Thank You Nijolechu! It can involve candy, it just depends on what you plan on doing for your loved one as a gift or ??? I guess it's just like a valanetines day but in October here in the Midwest.

I guess I am a romantic sap and use to make a great big deal out of it, and wish I really could still though, but like you I can't afford to do anything and well, it would be nice if my boyfriend remembered it was but he had not mentioned anything to me all day. I hate this feeling but he has made me oh well it and deep down I really would have at least had a sweet greeting. Not much to ask for is it?

No not much to ask for at all. It's not on our kitchen calendar so that's my excuse it's usually pre-printed on there but this one does not have it on there. My hubby made me brownies ala box. I guess he finally one-upped me for a change.

To be perfectly honest with you I have never heard of Sweet Day is it like Valentines Day? It must be a special day If people celebrate it. I understand money is tight I think we are all going through that dilemma at this point in life, but you actually feel special because not to many men remember holidays like that. Go head and celebrate it have fun you never know if you'll be here tomorrow and you don't want to have any regrets. Try to enjoy life to it's fullest. Doing something special doesn't necessary mean that you have to spend money spend a quite evening at homes watching movies have a candle light dinner just the two of you. Whatever you decide enjoy and hope it's special.

TY for your response Fab. My hubby just made some boxed brownies wich is nice of him, as all I expected when I got home from work was dinner. I know, we try at times but it's not always easy on a tight budget and 3 kids always with us.

I was raised in a suburb of Detroit, Michigan (USA), where Sweetest Day was a recognized holiday. When I moved to Florida, most people had never heard of it. I still celebrate Sweetest Day, when I don't forget about it, that is. We are in the same situation, where money is tight, so I think a hug and a kiss and saying "Happy Sweetest Day" would be just fine.

I never really celebrated Sweetest day before. i always waited for Valentine's Day. I did have a close friend who always celebrated this with her husband. They always did something special together on this day. I think they still do.

Hubby and I did not celebrate it. I even forgot it was sweetest day until I went on facebook and saw everyone saying happy sweetest day. We celebrate Valentine's Day which is pretty much the same thing. I think someone just saw it as a way to make some money by having a sweetest day. Where my brother lives in California they do not even know what it is.

What? I havent heard of that special day either. I really think that people in facebook made that all up. I am on facebook now and no one said that they are celebrating the sweetest day. LOL!!I dont think it counts and I dont even know about the Sweetest Day. Everyday can be the sweetest day for you both. You dont have to celebrate and choose a date for the sweetest day. Because I think that everyday can be the sweetest day. Give him a massage or cook a very yummy dinner thats all. Or just give him a sweet meaningful kiss. You dont have to spend anything.

No, I really had not heard much about it. I went and searched it. It is what I would consider a concocted holiday. It does not really mean anything. It is also not very common in my part of the country. I think every day could be our sweetest day.
