A couple of days ago someone went on a fire setting spree in our county and a neighboring county. Garvers flea market was burned down and several other fires were set intentionally. Garvers was a historical building and had been in existence over 100 years. The arsonist also set fire to a church, an old pizza place, and a grocery store. It is sad to see Garvers gone and the other buildings are abandoned because of smoke damage and probably will have to be torn down. I hope they find the person or people responsible for setting the fires and they are punished for what they did. It is always sad to see a piece of history go up in flames.

This sounds like what happen in my home town of Almonte Ontario. Years back when I was 19 someone started going around our town burning down all the farmers barns. It was a farming town I was from. Anyways this went on for 3 months and finally local police had to bring in detectives and undercover cops. Still went on. I had even gotten pulled over one day and my car searched because supposely who ever was starting them had a red car like I had. So after a few more months and a lost of 50 or more buildings the cops finally caught the person doing it. Here's the kick of the story. The person starting all the fires was the fire chief who was forced to retire due to injury so he did this for revenge. It was crazy because by the time he was done we had pretty much lost all the old 100+ year old barns and out buildings not to mention how scared everyone was. If you don't believe me check the crime files online somewhere because our story was on tv in a bunch of different crime shows. Wild times. Hope they find your fire bug.

I think I remember seeing that on a crime show. They have some leads but are not saying much yet because they don't want to compromise the investigation.

That is truly sad to hear. I sure hope who ever set the intentional fire gets caught this is awful how some business people spend their entire lives constructing a business and perhaps it being their only means for something like this to have happened.
If it is a small community perhaps they will restore it with the insurance claim, however if it has been for so long the owners perhaps will not have the will to restore it as this might just been a dream for them that now is up in smoke and they will not be able to emotional recover.

I hope they can rebuild some of these places. I can't believe that someone would even dishonor a church like that. It is God's house. The arsonist threw a homemade bottle bomb into the church to set that fire. They don't know what was used in setting the other fires yet.
