A Cute Cat Rescue Story=^..^=

I have a little rescue story to tell. This past Movie Night a woman (Doris) told us a few nights ago she saw a cat walking in the stairwell of our building. She knew the cat belonged to someone in here, but, didn't know exactly who. She picked the cat up and told security about it and asked him to check the roster of the tenants who have pets. He didn't want to and proceeded to open the door to let the cat out! David (host of movie nights) and I were appalled to hear about this. So, we concocted a plan to get the cat back. First I said that it would be best to close one of the doors, so, in case the cat returns we narrow it's escape options. I went to my apartment and got some cheese and put some of it just outside the open door to the Residential Lounge and made a small trail of it inside the Lounge. In the meantime, we decided that David would keep the cat overnight until the next day when it could be reunited with it's owner. So, we went to his place and found a nice size box to use as a bathroom. I told him if and when the cat appears I'll give him some cat litter and a can of cat food. We decided I wouldn't be a good choice because Mija is used to being the queen bee and I didn't want a possible fight nor did I want to spend all night listening to both cats hissing at each other. LOL! Anyway, there we were just sitting in the lounge just talking and in tiptoed the cat! Quickly, one of the guys shut the door and Doris called the cat over. She picked the cat up and gave it to me. David, Doris and I proceeded to David's apartment to help get the cat situated, but, on the way I decided that it might be a good idea to reunite the cat and owner then and there. They didn't think it would be such a good idea since it was 2am in the morning, but, I reasoned that it really wouldn't matter what time it was when he knows he has his cat back. So, I knocked and rang the doorbell. When he opened the door he had this huge smile on his face and said, "You found her"! I quickly told him how it all came about that we managed to get the cat and he was so thankful! Doing things like that just does your heart good, you know? The cat appeared to be only 8 months old and even though it went outside periodically (only with her owner) it wasn't really streetwise and may have gotten attacked by a dog or even another cat. Well, we did our good deed for the day! Yay!! The End. It's so funny because when I got back home I said to Mija, "Mija, you would have been so proud of us because we rescued one of your own tonight!" Mija just looked at me as if to say, "Sure, mom. I'm real proud of you. Now, shut up and get me something to eat!" LOL! Have a great day everyone and an even better one tomorrow! Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija

WTG! I'm glad you rescued this baby and that you got her back to her owner! I was at church this morning and the house next door had some cats outside. Its a quiet street and I'd guess these cats are used to being outside, they looked a bit scruffy, but friendly because the lady drove up and the cats came running.

Thanks, ElicBxn! It's sad to know that there are so many stray animals out there, but, just knowing that there are people out there who care enough about them to at least feed them and/or find good homes for them is great. We need more people like that! Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija

That is a cute story. Good thing you didn't bring that cat home. Mija would not have had that for a minute. I know how those queens are and they don't like competition.

LOL! You got that right! Especially considering Mija has been the ONLY queen living here since I brought her home. She is definitely the head of the household here! Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija

What a great story! I hope someone complains about the security guy or at least gives him a good talking to. I now have a group of 5 strays coming to my house each day for dinner and yesterday another showed up! They are wild but now I can pet 3 of them with a 4th getting friendlier by the day. I feel so sorry for strays on the street and I'm glad that kitty you rescued didn't end up with such a life.

Thanks, dragon54u! I'm also very angry with the security who let the cat go. Personally, I feel he should at the very least be severely reprimanded and at the most be let go because for most of us who live here (Disabled housing) our pets are technically considered by the state at companion animals and for a security guard to have that attitude toward our pets is reprehensable! Thank goodness for people like you who are doing their share in taking care of the strays and making sure they have good homes! Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija
