How old were you when you had your first mobile phone?

In India mobiles phones entered and started working properly by the end of 20th Century. In fact from 2001 onwards th mobile phones have active entered the market after the entry of international service providers. Initially it was not only the big sets and antennas, but also the cost factor which was quite inhibitive in nature to make the mobile phone as an attractive gadget. Only rich could afford the phone. We used to pay the money for receiving the calls also and that used to be quite a big bill at the end of the month. But with gradual increment in the competiton among the ervice providers and the phone manufacturing companies thingshave changed by 2002.And this is the time when I aquired my first mobile at the age of 42! It is a different thing that there after I have changed my phones many a times, to be precise I lost the count also. My kid acquired his first phone when he was 18 and till the date he also must hav changed his phones several times! Thanks good discussion, enjoyed in participating in it!

I was 46 and it was one that my son had been using for a while. Then I had a couple of used ones from ebay. I was about 53 before I had a brand new one & thats the one I use now. Its a plain straightforward, no-frills Nokia - it calls, it texts, thats as much as I need it to do.

I got my first cell phone few days after I turned 18. That was little over 21 years ago. I've seen a lot of changes in cell phone industry & had few different ones since then.

I was 26 when I got my first mobile cell phone. I am amazed that 10 year olds have them today. I understand that sometimes for emergency they are necessary but somehow a 10 year old with an iPhone seems a bit much, but blessed to all who can afford this for their child.

i have a cell phone when i was 21 years. the fist phone that i belong to is nokia 3315 type. and i got it by saving it first. really pleased to have aphone let alone that there are such sophisticated features that i have now.

Even I was young, I do not even have a house phone, not to mention a mobile phone. I was already working when I had my first mobile. It was only when mobile phones are the trend that I had my first mobile phone.

i was 19 when I got my first phone. Back then phones had antennas that sometimes got in the way and they was very bulky and i no have as many features as they have today. It is just amazing how far cell phones have come.

I think I was 19 years old when I got my first mobile phone and I am now 31. I do remember how cell phoes was back then. Some them wasvery bulky and had those antennas that made it difficult to put in your pocket. It is amazing how far cell phones have come.

When the cellphone introduce here in our country. I have it but those cellphone them really hard to pick up signals and the card is so big... I am 22 then if am not mistaken.

YEAH ME TOO, I got or i bought my first mobile when im at the age of 20 or 21 maybe.I bought it from my first salary from my first job and i was very happy to have my first cellphone.I dID change my phone many times now im already 30 yrs old and i think i already changed my phone 5times or more now.

I was about 14. It was the xmas before my first yr of high school. I was really worried that one day that my dad would forget to pick me up so I wanted one to be able to contact him if I needed him. It was mainly for emergency reasons not for social reasons. It bothers me that children as young as 7 have mobiles now. Its not safe.

I was about 17 years old when I got my first cell phone. To be honest I didn't even really use it besides to call my mother that lived 2000 miles away. Because at the time there was really no need to contact anyone else my life was already busy with playing football and studying other things. So if I ever had to talk to someone or plan something to do the next night i would wait untill I got back to school the next day. I preferred the eye to eye contact. now in society these days even some work is done using cell phones. It's amazing though how so many youth believe that they are automatically enititled to have a cell phone. i've even seen a couple of second and third graders with cell phones. that brings up yet another issue "sexting" O.o

I was about 5-6 years old when I got my first mobile phone, but it had no SIM-card... It was actually the old mobile phone of my mother but anyway... It was a red Nokia that was actually quite small... It is making me so happy now that I remember it, it had only a few games and I just loved the Snake game (the original Nokia's own one). Anyway... In Finland where I used to live (I am currently in France for a year) everyone has a phone starting the day they go to school. If you didn't know, the Nokia company is a Finnish company and that might affect how and why people buy phones in Finland.

Yes, kids now a days have mobile phones already. Some have more than one mobile phone at their possession. My little sister have it and she is like 11 years old. It is kind of a necessity now a days. You cant be able to contact someone so easily without a mobile. So, you have to purchase atleast one for yourself. Everyone I know have mobile phones already. Even those old folks have them also. Even with some difficulty they still try to manage to cope up. I had my first mobile when I was bout 13 years old. It was a gift for me from my Aunt. Mobile phones made life more comfortable and easy as well.

It was too embarrassing! I had my first cellular phone when I was 53 years old. It was a nokia 3200. Being my first, I loved it so much. I enjoyed using the phone because of it's cam. It made a very good picture and it was a good travel companion. I also loved the music, the sound that the phone gave me. I loved the blinking lights when there was a message for me. But the phone was lost due to my negligence, and it hurt because it was my first phone.
