I have heard of menopause and some people see to think I have it and I don't really know what it is only what I have been told like things like mood swings, happy one minute, sad the next or very angry, the night sweats, change in diet and so on, but does anyone out there know what age does it start and what is it?

Hi, menopause can start as early as 30, but usually happens around 40-45. It can take several years to go all the way through menopause. I have included a link to an article that will hopefully help a bit..... http://factoidz.com/perimenopause-menopause-postmenopause/ It would be a good idea to go see a Doctor if possible. They wil be able to answer your questions and help you with anny difficulties you are having

Is low estrogen the same as menopause? I am almost 35. I am being treated for PCOS, for a few years now. I was finally sent to an endocrinologist. He is tested all of my hormones for low estrogen. What does this mean?

Apparently, it's different for everyone, but generally around your 50s-60s. It would probably best to see the doctor just to make sure it wasn't anything else. :)

in a nutshell, menopause is like the opposite of puberty. It is when a woman's body goes from being able to have children to not being able to have children. Your menstural cycle will become irregular as the hormones in your body change. If you are menopausal, you do need to see a doctor. The age at which it starts depends mostly on your family history. In my family, it starts late comparatively. For some it can occur as early 40.

I don't know a lot about it either. I mean, I know it has something to do with a woman's finishing her supply of eggs ... as PMS comes of her monthly egg-transfer, so menopause is when the transferring ends ... but that sounds like a whole lot of bathroom-stuff I don't want to know too much about. I hope that explains the mood-swings-etc. enough though!

Menopausal symptoms vary among women at each stage of the menopausal transition and also vary for each woman over time as she goes through these stages. In the United States, most women experience menopause between the ages of 40 and 58, with a median age of 52. Factors associated with earlier menopause include lower body weight, shorter menstrual cycles, and smoking. Higher body weight is associated with later onset on menopause.
