Guys please help me know what is the cheapest way to make calls to US or UK. I am looking for a home based outsourced job but they expect me to make outgoing calls to customers in US at my own expense. Can you help me know what all does one require, I donot know anything. Do I have to buy some phone and buy some plan? I would be making 50-100 calls per week. Please suggest me something. Call centers use the VOIP phone, is that what I require??would it be expensive as I will be working individually??

The cheapest way is to get a skype account/subscription. I noticed that you also need a have them call you from the phone.
This is easily done subscribing to a feature in Skype called SkypeIn. The link is http://www.skype.com/intl/en/features/allfeatures/online-number/
Since you already have a broadband access/subscription, the rest are relatively inexpensive.
I hope it helps.

Undoubtedly, the cheapest way of making overseas calls is using VoIP. Skype is very well known and reliable (though not the cheapest). You might also investigate VoipBuster and Gizmo5, though these may not be available to you in India.
The advantage of Skype is that it is well-known and widely used and many of your customers may also be using it. Skype to Skype (PC to PC) calls are free and Skype to landline or mobile are just a few cents a minute, depending on where you are calling to and calling from.
To use VoIP from a PC, you would be well advised to get a good headset (which plugs into your sound card or USB) which will allow you to make hands-free calls from the PC and also use whatever software you might need while you are speaking to clients.

thanks owlwings, I know about skype and have been using it quite a while but they want me to have a phone with a 10 digit number, Voip from a PC wont also do I guess. What kind of phone are they asking? is that some VoIP phone..they even mentioned that I can use my cell phone to call but that would be very expensive.

Probably the easiest way is to try something like Skype. Making international calls to UK and USA is quite cheap from Skype. I have a cellphone which can connect wifi. I installed the Skype software in my cellphone and then get online. I can use it to make an international call. If you don't have such kind of cellphone, you can install Skype in your computer and make calls from it. The conversation quality is good.
I love China

Yes,the VOIP is the best one you can have.
It is cheaper and you can bring it anywhere you go.
You can also use the skype, but unlike with VOIP there are certain places/countries that you cal also call the person thru their mobile phones without extra charge.
Just asks your local landline for this kind of communication.
